How safe is Santorini?

Safety at night:

Santorini, is generally safe, even at night. The crime rate is relatively low and the island is filled with welcoming and friendly locals. Felt safe enough with Greek people and tourists. I’ve enjoyed the volkan cinema, where you can eat while watching mamma mia on the terrace of their restaurant. The food is not very typical but you should try feta cheese and pita gyros. Santorini in general is very expensive but you still can manage your money without spending too much in touristic stuff. In addition I recommend you to use the bus line and not the taxi or renting a car cause it’s very expensive if you’re alone.

My stay in Santorini was so nice and I felt very safe. The locals were nice too. The hostel I stayed in was in Fira, but I spent most of my time in the kamari beach. The food was great and I recommend going to oia for the sunset

Solo travel

Crowds (I visited off-season, so it's scary to think about how it is during the peak season), the food is much worse than on other Greek islands, prices are also much higher, not many places to explore, and the beaches are quite average. I have visited several different places in Greece, and I regret those few days in Santorini.

Solo travel

In my opinion, a postcard from Greece takes your breath away with its atmospheric white towns. The island, in my opinion, is more for sightseeing and walking than for beach activities. The beaches here are not particularly impressive; there are not many places with turquoise waters. And, in my opinion, it is the least Greek of all the islands.

I did not have high expectations when it came to Santorini. I was afraid that it would be heavily overhyped. But I completely fell in love with it. We stayed in the town of Fira, which is the capital of the island and an ideal base. It has excellent bus connections from the airport, and from here you can easily reach any attraction on the island. On the first day we walked all around Fira, and compared to other towns that we visited on the island, it is really bustling and lots of things are happening there. I recommend walking from Fira to the town of Imerovigli. The sunset is beautiful. The next day we spent in Oia. We also visited Red Beach and Perissa Beach for a bit of sunbathing.

Is Santorini safe for women?

Santorini is generally a very safe place. The locals are friendly and mind their own business. The only case you would feel harassed is by drunk tourists trying to flirt with you. Keeping that in mind, make sure you always have your drink and your friends close, and be aware of malicious males.
