Solo travel

I had great experiences with the locals looking out for me as a solo traveller. I had a few occasions where I needed help with my vehicle and medical issues, and the locals were friendly and couldn't have been more accommodating. If you are looking for an authentic experience, skip the main strip in Sidari as it is a British tourist attraction. However, it was very busy in the evening and felt safe for going out at night alone. For a quieter experience and nicer restaurants, go to the area near Canal D'Amour. I had the best views and breakfast on my wat up to Porto Timoni Beach at Anafoufou Restaurant. I did not have much of a budget, but my meals out ranged from €3-€20. A small gyros cost €3, and the nicest restaurant cost €20 for a generous main meal, a signature non alcoholic cocktail, and another non alcoholic beverage. I stayed in Peroulades at a lovely authentic villa, Villa De Loulia, owned by Lukia. It was beautifully styled and 10 minutes walk from the best sunset and blue waters in Corfu at Loggas beach. I used taxis for the first 2 days to get to Sidari for €10 per ride. However, they were not always available. I hired a buggy and then a quad for €90 a day from Sidari Rentals. It is much cheaper to rent a car at €50 per day but I was not organised enough and it was peak tourist season. The roads are a lot quieter in the North of the island and didn't have to worry too much about traffic rules, junctions, roundabouts etc, as a first time driver on the right in a foreign country. I visited

Group travel

I felt very safe in Corfú. We were a group of 4 girls and we stayed in an airbnb. I would recommend to book a boat trip to Naxos-paxos. Porto Timoni is also a must, there are great viewpoints before arriving to the beach. It is a hike of around 20 minutes, but it is worth it. The people were very welcoming.

Group travel

The sail trip to naxos-paxos is a must. You get to visit 2 different places plus a swimming spot with crystal blue water. Porto Timoni beach is another must, but you need to get to the beach hiking, so could see the great views from the beach from above. The only bad thing about the trip was the humid heat, we were sweating so much, even during the night, so you have to hydrate yourself regularly. Overall we felt very safe, we were a group of women.

Family travel

We did feel safe. We came with plane and then took a bus (close to the airport, walkable, or local bus) to the city we were going to. Northwest part of the island. Had canal if love. Really lovely. Kids loved the place. Water is great. Were places good for the kids to play close to shore but also rocks to jump from. Quite easy to find shadow. Food was ok. Nothing more. If u rent a car there are many places to explore. I meet a local that took me around on his motobike and showed me some nice beaches. It was lovely.

Solo travel

Beautiful island! I went there just before the start of the season and I absolutely loved it! Not only is it full of cats, but the people are very welcoming (and speak Italian really well) Even in the off season I managed to visit most of the island with public transportation, just buy a 5€ day pass when you start your day and you can take as many busses as you want going pretty much anywhere on the island. Everything felt safe, from the city to the public transport and even the hikes around small villages I stayed in a couple hostels: The ones in Agios Gordios (west coast) are all owned by the same woman and they’re not very clean or very fun. They probably offer some activities during the summer but when I want there in April it was hard to meet anyone or even to go anywhere from there The hostel I would reccomend is Local Hostels and Suites. It’s a short 10min bus ride away from the city and super comfortable
