I felt really safe and happy, the streets were interesting for me. And also the food, oh I love Greek culture!!! I stayed in hostel for erasmus plus program and it was also nice to be with the other cultures.

Had my first solo trip to Crete this august for a few nights stay. I landed in a hostel (wanted to experience that too) but I wouldn’t say it was a good rest. I liked the port side of Heraklion though, besides museums and historical sites i am not sure there was much left to see. After a 3h bus ride to Chania i finally landed to the seaside, visited the local port and lighthouse area before heading out to the camping side( another 20min bus ride). My goal was to see a falling side from a tent this summer and also se the beach. I did all here. To my surprise the camping site had great facilities (better than the hostel) and even organized a nice live music evening at their restaurant. There was a pool with bar/terrace too and all 3 sandy beaches +lidl were within a 10min walk radius which was super convenient. The 2 days i stayed there i met a great bee friend and had some good laughs and drinks by our tents. On my way back i stopped in Rethymno where i planned to visit more of the port venetian fortress but was too exhausted to carry my bags and discovered the bus station had a bag locker rental service which was great! The person there helped manage my locker and recommended a good site to go for a quick sea swim by the port which was great refresher (but a bit fishy smelly water). The restaurant close-by wasn’t welcoming, so after 6 wasted minutes i went back to the bus station, changed and had a quick snack before going back to Heraklion, this time staying at a near to the airport hotel which was great. Right across from it there was a taverna the person from hotel reception recommended and it was the best lamb chop bbq i tried and the desert from the house was yummy (raveni i think it was called) The trip i had wasn’t that great but for a last minute solo trip it was more than i expected. Hope to redo it and take more time to meet and enjoy good vibes with good people. There wasn’t much i could visit; i even googled monastery to find my steps in front of a hitel that was built over an monastery in Chania.. i walked mainly on the main streets but didn’t feel unsafe especially considering i was clearly a tourist with my backpacking on. Next time i want to take the day trip to go hiking and another trip for ferry to another island. Food was affordable, depending on the location, i spent from 3-6€ for a pastry to 23€ -30€ for a 1 person meal(plus beer/tea/ouzo included) at restaurants.
Posted: August 31, 2025Tinos is a lovely island with a local vibe. It is not as overpriced as other greek islands and has its own charm. It also culturally interesting as it has it own customs. It felt quite safe as well to travel around.
Posted: August 18, 2025I travelled to Corfu with my family. I really enjoyed local cusine and locals were really kind. I also very love cats and there were plenty of cats. They were really cute. Honestly, local villages look bit questionable, but overall I loved Corfu and I hope I'll visit again
Posted: August 13, 2025Experienced: July, 2025I loved my stay in Mykonos. I am safe even in the street in the evening, because it is a tourist city above all. I also recommend for the experiences to do, whether it is the day with a boat cruise, or the evening in a club

The city is relatively safe, but it doesn't give you a feeling of well-being. Men constantly stare at you, but they keep their distance and, fortunately, don't talk to you. I talked to other tourists and they said that they don’t feel that safe here compared to other cities in Greece.

I was alone in Rhodes for a day, only during the day so I can’t speak about night. But I took a bus in kolympia to the center of Rhodos in October there was a lot of people, during my walk around the old town I felt safe, waiters where nice,so where shop owners.Over all I recommend and I would go back alone
Posted: October 9, 2025There are regions such us the city center and the harbor that are pretty safe both in day and night. However while night you have to be extremely careful bc there are many drunk people in the streets. Also must always check on your bags while using public transportation because of the pickpockets (there are not so many but... better safe than sorry:)). But overall I wouldn't say that Thessaloniki is a dangerous town. You just have to be careful at crowded places and small streets at night

I was there with my girlfriends and overall I felt safe but near laganas or at night I felt uncomfortable. A lot of men hit on you and in Laganas you should be careful when going out to a bar or a club and I do not recommend drinking outside. The Men there were mostly younger (18-25) and I didn’t feel like they would really harm me and they usually respected a No but it was very common to get hit on. I don’t recommend walking around at night because we were honked at. I didn’t feel love the Island but the nightlife wasn’t for me

Patras is a safe place at all. It’s a small city between mountains and sea, with a good transportation system (bus+train) and quite people. Streets are safe and bad incidents are isolated. As a student here for 4 years, I never worried about my safety!
