Is Greece safe for solo female travelers?

Greece is generally considered safe for solo female travelers. The locals are friendly and willing to help if needed. However, like any country, it has areas that are safer than others. The cities, such as Athens, are generally safe but require the same precautions you would take when visiting any large city. Keep your possessions close, avoid dark and secluded areas at night, and be aware of pickpockets in crowded places. The Greek islands are very safe and you can feel comfortable exploring them on your own. Greek people are known for their hospitality and many solo female travelers have pleasant experiences when visiting Greece.

Akrata, Group travel

In August it gets quite lively but I think each mostly like people coming to their summer houses. The beaches are really pretty 😍. It has a perfect road with not many cars that is perfect for riding a bike along the beach

Athens, Solo travel

I live in Athens, but not permanently. For me, its the best city on earth, with the best atmosphere, the most wonderful weather and the most delicious food. The music in the clubs isnt my taste, but you can find places where you can have a great time. The safest place is to live by the sea. Its definitely best not to go downtown.

Katerini, Solo travel

Katerini is a nice and cosy place. Close to the beach and mountains. I feel safe while being there. People are nice and food is great. You should definitely check the main square while visiting it and do some shopping there

Athens

It's overall a safe city. However there are some very unsafe neighborhoods that you should definitely avoid, especially at night, like Omonia, Victoria, Plateau Vathis, Plateia Amerikis, Kypseli etc.

Athens

I felt pretty safe during both the night and day. Only next to the Akropolis area on the built-up neighborhood I saw few creeps but they did not come to me and my friend. Also be careful about thieves

About me

Hi beautiful people!!🌙I'm a film student, really into arts and politics. I love nature and also the street culture. I decided I have to explore the world (inner and outer) so that to remember all the important things we've forgotten. It's nice we can help each other in feeling safe (as capitalism is killing us). Im from the island Crete, now living in Thessaloniki. If you need a place to stay in both places, send me a message, I would love to meet you and showing around or suggest u local (non touristic) places 💗 🇵🇸🏴‍☠️🧜🏼‍♀️🦌🦔🌱

About me

Hello! Although I am new to this app, I love hosting people and meeting faces from around the world. I currently live in the beautiful island of Crete, but I am originally from the north of Greece (Thessaloniki). I also love hosting animals. I currently work in public education as a psychologist and I am doing a masters degree in critical pedagogy. I keep myself busy with lots of activities, like collective projects, political action, nature exploration, music, movement and more.
