It's pretty safe for women, in most places in the city. The life in Volos doesn't stop at night and has people all over, so you feel mostly safe. But you have to be careful, specifically at night, at some roads in the city that they don't have a lot of lights. I have lived here for almost 2 years, and nothing dangerous has happened to me, but maybe because I'm too protective and careful or just lucky.🤷♀️

I’ve traveled a lot and honestly I’m feeling safe everywhere but in my own city, girls should be careful in Athens, there many places and neighbourhoods in the city centre that are really dangerous at night, try not to walk around alone past 10pm
Posted: February 22, 2025Greece is honestly quite safe. I don’t worry about myself more than I do in Australia for example. Just the normal amount as a woman. The locals are usually helpful, most people speak English so it is very easy for tourists. You need to exercise the usual amount of caution!
Posted: February 19, 2025Some parts are definitely sketchy but nothing unlike most major cities. Always ask for advice on where to stay to avoid the “bad” neighborhoods. The suburbs are very safe, so perhaps staying a bit outside of city center is best.
Posted: February 18, 2025It really depends on the area. There are a some dangerous areas like Omonoia, Attiki etc. Generally I’d say that you should be really careful on public transport as there are people that can mug you and you shouldn’t walk alone in alleys with no lights at night even if you are near the center. Also, cat calling is a common thing especially on big roads (avenues).

For me it felt very safe, there are some neighborhoods that have a lot of drug addicts, but even there i havent felt uncomfortable or unsafe, just a bit sad about the situation. Most neighborhoods in athens are very neat.

Alexandroupoli is a small town located in Greece. You really feel safe walking around town and the crime rate is very low. There are almost no crime reports. You don’t really have to worry about safety here. You sure need to have your eyes open, as everywhere you go, but as long as I’m living here, i never had a bad experience that made me feel afraid or in danger.

In Athens and Piraeus, I feel calm walking alone. I haven't had any problems and I hope everything continues to be this good, although it's always important to stay alert! I love the Greeks, they are very loving and kind, always willing to help.

Thessaloniki for now seems very safe. It’s not my home town, but for these months I’m living here nothing bad happened. A lot of people said to me not to walk in the street alone when it’s dark, in fact I’m trying to avoid to do this. Public transport is fine and safe during the day (but i guess that is not so safe during the night)

Athens is a very nice city to travel to. Its full of life and young people. But as every city with too many people you may have different experiences. Theres very good people and some not so much. Depending on where you choose to go out at night, the activities you choose to do and the way you transport from one place to another you are gonna meet different people. Generally in the day time its 100% safe , as a tourist you just have to be careful of your money and cellphone in the center of athens because its so crowded. In the night time you have to be careful always wherever you are in greece or not.

Greece was amazing. I felt save everywhere. The food wasn't so good because there was a few greek restaurants, so we didn't visit them and we visit Italian restaurant instead. The country is beautiful, but when you're there, it looks a little bit poor.
Posted: February 18, 2025Experienced: July, 2024It was really safe. I stayed close to Ermou Street. (Athens Commercial) I ate my dinner in Bairaktaris Syntagma Square. I spend: -25€ (per a day) for hotel. -10€ (Acropolis) -6€ (National Archeological Museum) -13€ (Dinner) I didn’t take bus or metro. Just shuttle. So I walked to everywhere.

I’m 23 years old, recently statistics graduated from Greece. I’m in Amsterdam for Erasmus internship in an ngo for good living. My hobby is learning as many different possible things for life and cultures. I love to travel but not as tourist but as adventure. That why I want to connect with locals and to create good connections and learning from them.
