Is Regensburg safe for solo female travelers?

Regensburg is particularly popular for its overall safety, with a highly efficient police force and low crime rates. Solo female travelers can feel relatively secure, whether navigating public transportation or exploring the city's numerous attractions during the day or night. One should always exercise regular travel precautions, but the probability of encountering major issues in Regensburg is quite low. Some parts of the city could get a bit desolate at night, but security measures are well implemented across the city.

Regensburg is a very safe city. You can walk around both during the day and at night without feeling worried. People are friendly and helpful, and the city has a calm and welcoming atmosphere. It’s also well-organized, clean, and the public transport is reliable. Overall, it’s a great place to live or study because you always feel comfortable and secure.

Overall safe but we have one dangerous park next to the trainstation where you should not go and also some cases of sexual assault and rape but also not that often and mostly at night that park or certain parts bit more outside the city

Overall it is pretty safe, robberies are very uncommon. I would not recommend walking alone after dark though, but I never would no matter where. It hast gotten worse the past few years but it is still pretty safe.

Regensburg is safe to walk around alone. It is a very beautiful city and the people don't really care what you are doing. Everyone is doing their own thing. Just the Train Station is a little not so safe.

In my opinion you are pretty safe concerning hotels etc and in cafes/restaurants/swimming/… and pretty much everything throughout the day. In some of the parks you should be careful, especially in the dark, because of drunk people/ people on drugs. There have been quite some rape cases in Regensburg in the parks! Most of the people that are on the street and asking for money are nice (but still: beware of drunk people, especially men) I would always rather go home in a group than alone in the night or have someone on the phone! But I guess - sadly - that’s normal as a woman… In comparison to some other countries I would say Germany is ok-safe.

About me

Hej, I’m Linda, 19 years old, and currently studying in Germany. In August 2025, I’m going on my first solo trip through southern Sweden, supported by a travel scholarship. My journey will focus on the theme “Sports in Sweden.” 🇸🇪 I love meeting new people and am really looking forward to the adventure! I’m currently looking for accommodation in August in the following regions: Helsingborg, Värnamo, Jönköping, and Gothenburg. I’d also be super grateful for any travel tips or new connections who could help me explore the topic of sports in Sweden.
