Safety:Very safe

Bremen is generally a secure place to visit. Serious crime rate is low but like any other city, it's recommended to exercise basic precautions especially during late hours. Main tourist areas and public transportation are considered quite safe. It is good for solo female travelers but always remember to respect local customs and traditions to ensure a comfortable journey.

Transport:Easy

Bremen is relatively easy to navigate. It's a compact city, so you can cover much of it on foot or bike. The public transit, which includes trams and buses, is efficient and reliable. However, the signage might be confusing if you're not used to the system. It's advisable to learn a few basic German phrases as not everyone might be fluent in English. Regardless, locals are usually helpful if you find yourself lost or unsure. Also, remember to use smart phone maps which can be really handy.

Things to do:Interesting

Bremen is filled with enchanting activities suitable for any solo female traveler. Embark on a tranquil walk along the lovely Schnoor quarter, which showcases Germany’s oldest structures. For the history enthusiasts, the UNESCO-listed Town Hall and Roland Statue narrate the region's stories from past millennia. Additionally, Bremen's Beck's Brewery caters to those interested in the art of brewing and perfect for tasting delightful beers. If you're a nature lover, the delightful Rhododendron-Park and Universum Bremen are worth exploring. Art admirers will feel at home in Kunsthalle Bremen, which boasts impressive works from the 14th century to contemporary pieces. Overall, Bremen offers a blend of history, art, nature, and indulgence, thus leading to a wholesome solo travel experience.

Food:Above average

Bremen offers a decent variety of tasty foods. Traditional German cuisine is definitely top-notch; however, there's also a good selection of international food, ranging from Italian, Greek, Asian to Middle Eastern cuisine. The seafood, pastries and local beers are also worth trying. The quality is very good overall. Despite the abundance of choices, the number of vegan and vegetarian options can be better. However, if you're not a picky eater, Bremen's food scene will satisfy your culinary desires.

Budget:Affordable

Bremen provides a cost-effective travel experience. Accommodations, food and transportation are quite affordable when compared to other German cities like Berlin or Munich. Plenty of free or low-cost attractions like the famous Bremen Town Musicians statue, Bürgerpark and Schnoor Quarter are available. However, certain activities and dining could increase your expenditure.

Bremen is a small cute city with some really cool places to discover. The Weser is running right through it so there is a lot to do if you like water. It's also very near to the Nordsee and therefore has a good connection to the sea. It's safe at night except for the main station but at night it can be dangerous when you are out alone

I’m living in Bremen since October. When I came here I found a bit small the city, but with the pass of the time I have realised that the city is very beautiful. I will highlight this three spots, which are the most visited and also the most beautiful; - City center Square (Dom/Rathaus) -Böttcherstraße -Schnoor neighbourhood However, there are amazing plans to do and places to visit like: - walk through the Osterdeich / Schlachte 🤩 - rent a bike and go through the Bürguerpark, find the farm with Alpacas 🚲 - go to Viertel pubs to drink beer 🍻 - Kunst Halle, Focke, Universum 📚 - Am wall Bremen is quite calm. Maybe for me that I’m from Spain, sometimes I feel there is not to much ambience nor people in the streets. That everybody goes home early and there is no life. But, you also find the beauty in calm. 🖤

About Me

Hey Girls 🌼☀️ I‘m Denise from Bremen Germany. I like traveling, meeting new people, sightseeing, dancing and being in nature. I also like to learn about other cultures and food 🍱🥙🍦. I love animals. I have two cats at home 🐱💕 I‘m not a typical backpacker. I can’t imagine sleeping in hostels anymore 😅 This is my second time traveling alone, still pretty exciting 😁🙈. I look forward meeting new people. Maybe we can explore the city together 🌆, go clubbing 💃, or just have a coffee on a nice place ☕️☺️ (my english is not the best 🙈🙈).

About me

Hi I’m Katrin and I’m originally from Bavaria in Germany. I used to live somewhere close to Munich but I moved to Bremen a few years ago to start studying Art therapy. I finished my 5 semester in March but decided to take a break and continue in September again. Before that I used to be an Aupair in the US and I lived with an American family for a whole year in Portland, Oregon. I watched 3 kids and we had a great connection, that’s why I’m back visiting them for my 3rd time now. I am very easy going person in general and I love good conversations and listen to peoples stories. I’m very interested in getting to know people from all over the world and see the different lifestyles. I’m usually very social but I also don’t mind being left alone and spent time with myself. You would find me sitting somewhere outside and either scribe in my scratch book or read.
