I am lucky and never had a problem in Bonn. But of course I avoid darker places in the nighttime and prefere to walk home in company. Still its a studet city and i think its very safe compared to berlin gor example.
Posted: January 29, 2026Generally very safe in the 5 years I‘ve lived here. If I‘m walking by myself in the dark however I won‘t listen to music and pay attention to my surroundings more. Don‘t linger around the central station at night time, junkies on crack can be quite scary.
Posted: January 7, 2026It's mostly safe. Like in a lot of german cities there is a bot of a drug problem around the central station. I wouldn't recomend to stay in Tannenbusch or Bad Godesberg, but the other parts of town are quite nice!

Living here for 3 months already, I would say it is a small, beautiful and quite town. It has definitely some history to check on. It is also a very excellent location, close to big cities like Köln and Düsseldorf.

i absolutely love it here. nice people, cozy environment and always help around. Bonn is small and cute, as a person of colour I've surely experienced some microaggressions but it's definitely not as bad as the bigger neighboring cities like Düsseldorf and Cologne (these are that bad either, just a comparison)

In my view, Bonn is a safe city. No matter what time, even at night, I never feel threatened. The people here are friendly and helpful. the city is very multicultural. This allows you to meet very different people and enjoy specialties from all kinds of countries.

Hey, I'm Lilly (she/her), 20 years old and i’m studying German and French Literature in Bonn in Germany. Now I will be travelling around for around a month in Spain - and since I am a poor student and open minded at the same time I wanted to try this app to make new friends and maybe recieve a couch to sleep on for one night. :) I do a lot of things with friends, like going to concerts and festivals, but also spend a quiet day with good music (most likely indie alternative) and a book (probably something by Margarete Stokowski) at home. I speak a little little bit of spanish but french and english are fine for me as well. Exited to meet you!
