Living here for 3 months already, I would say it is a small, beautiful and quite town. It has definitely some history to check on. It is also a very excellent location, close to big cities like Köln and Düsseldorf.

i absolutely love it here. nice people, cozy environment and always help around. Bonn is small and cute, as a person of colour I've surely experienced some microaggressions but it's definitely not as bad as the bigger neighboring cities like Düsseldorf and Cologne (these are that bad either, just a comparison)

In my view, Bonn is a safe city. No matter what time, even at night, I never feel threatened. The people here are friendly and helpful. the city is very multicultural. This allows you to meet very different people and enjoy specialties from all kinds of countries.

Bonn is very Safe in General. But I would prefer not to walk alone. It’s better to be with someone. And also better to not walk alone when it’s dark. If you get dressed up, be in a group. That’s it 😊
Posted: September 21, 2025It's a great city if you like cute cafés, architecture and culture. The night life is not huge, but cologne is nearby to go partying. It is safe as long as you stay in public (transport). Avoid being alone in trams or at the main station at night, nothing has happened to me but I do feel unsafe due to drug addicts.

Hi, I’m Jules :) I’m from Bonn, Germany, and currently really into solo travel – mostly around Europe for now, but I definitely want to see more of the world in the future. I grew up in Germany, but my dad is French and my family lives in Paris. I sometimes stay with them for a few weeks or months, so I’m hoping to build some connections – I don’t really have any friends there yet :/ I’m also trying to improve my French, since my dad sadly never really spoke it with me growing up.
