Generally very safe in the 5 years I‘ve lived here. If I‘m walking by myself in the dark however I won‘t listen to music and pay attention to my surroundings more. Don‘t linger around the central station at night time, junkies on crack can be quite scary.
Posted: January 7, 2026It's mostly safe. Like in a lot of german cities there is a bot of a drug problem around the central station. I wouldn't recomend to stay in Tannenbusch or Bad Godesberg, but the other parts of town are quite nice!

Living here for 3 months already, I would say it is a small, beautiful and quite town. It has definitely some history to check on. It is also a very excellent location, close to big cities like Köln and Düsseldorf.

i absolutely love it here. nice people, cozy environment and always help around. Bonn is small and cute, as a person of colour I've surely experienced some microaggressions but it's definitely not as bad as the bigger neighboring cities like Düsseldorf and Cologne (these are that bad either, just a comparison)

In my view, Bonn is a safe city. No matter what time, even at night, I never feel threatened. The people here are friendly and helpful. the city is very multicultural. This allows you to meet very different people and enjoy specialties from all kinds of countries.

Hi, I'm Daniela from germany and like all of us I like to travel! I enjoy talking over a cup of tea, trying new foods, going out with friends and taking walks by the river or in the forrest etc. My prefered type of traveling involves my trusty backpack and waaay to many steps and spontanious decisions.

Hi, I’m Jules :) I’m from Bonn, Germany, and currently really into solo travel – mostly around Europe for now, but I definitely want to see more of the world in the future. I grew up in Germany, but my dad is French and my family lives in Paris. I sometimes stay with them for a few weeks or months, so I’m hoping to build some connections – I don’t really have any friends there yet :/ I’m also trying to improve my French, since my dad sadly never really spoke it with me growing up.
