Is Canada good for solo travel?

Safety:

Safety:Very safe

Canada generally has a high level of safety for solo female travelers. Its towns and cities are generally secure, and residents are often friendly and helpful. The crime rate is relatively low compared to other countries. Do note that, like anywhere, it's important to stay vigilant, avoid secluded places at night, and keep a close watch on your belongings.
Transport:

Transport:Easy

Canada boasts of a comprehensive and reliable public transportation network, including buses, trains, and ferries, spanning across the country's vast expanse. Major cities like Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal have subway systems, making urban navigation quite easy. Biking is also gaining popularity in many Canadian cities. However, since Canada is the second-largest country in the world by land area, reaching some remote areas can be challenging without personal transportation.
Things to do:

Things to do:Interesting

Canada is vast and diverse, full of natural wonders and contrasting landscapes. From awe-inspiring mountains in British Columbia, serene lakes in Ontario, to vibrant multicultural cities such as Toronto and Montreal, there's something for every type of solo female traveler. Whether you love outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, or skiing, or you’re more into exploring urban architecture, art galleries, and delicious food scenes, Canada will not disappoint you. However, it got a 4 due to great distances between destinations that may make travel lengthy and more challenging.
Food:

Food:Above average

Canada offers a truly diverse culinary experience due to its multicultural society. It is highly regarded for its seafood, particularly salmon, on the west coast and its poutine in Quebec. You can expect a range of cuisines from all over the world, including Italian, Chinese, Middle Eastern, and Indigenous foods. Their sweetness comes from treats like butter tarts and Nanaimo bars. While it may not be seen as a gastronomic destination compared to some European countries, the quality and variety of the food is outstanding.
Budget:

Budget:Moderate

Canada's total cost depends on where you go and what you do. Big cities like Toronto and Vancouver can be quite expensive, particularly for lodging, while small towns and rural areas will be cheaper. Food and attractions can also range from budget-friendly to high-end. Public transportation is efficient and reduces the costs if traveling within or close to cities, making it a mid-range choice for budget travelers.

Banff National Park, Solo travel

I had a great time at Banff. I booked two seperate day tours online to pick me up in Calgary and take me on a tour of Banff. This allowed me to save money on accommodation closer to the park and get to see Lake Moraine. Moraine lake can only be seen if you are part of a tour group from what we were told. I had a great time and got to see a lot of the park through the two separate tours.

We stayed at a cute cabin on a farm and it was so relaxing and the exact chill weekend we needed out of the city. Very queer friendly area as well, I find these little towns they don’t ask lots of questions you can just exist!

Halifax, Family travel

I took a tall ship cruise around Halifax bay with my family, it was extremely enjoyable and I highly recommend it. Afterwards we went for a very nice meal at Baton rouge restaurant, a bit expensive but Canada is quite expensive.

Richmond, Solo travel

I feel very safe here. Food here is overall very nice. We usually have a variety of choices for food of different cuisines. If you have a low budget, you can also find decent living and food here. Richmond is a little cheaper than Vancouver. if you don’t right, traveling in Richmond could be amazing

Whistler, Family travel

The very first time I went to Whistler, I didn't get why travellers would come all the way here just to go shopping (as Whistler Village was full of outdoor gear shops). Then last year my extended family took a trip up the gondola to the top of the mountains and I understood why people love Whistler! The views were incredible! In the summer you could ride the ski lifts up to get even higher views and hike around the tops of the mountains. It feels like you are on top of the world. My relatives from our of town wanted to go to Whistler from Vancouver for just the day, and at first my immediate family thought they were crazy to go all that way for just one day, but surprisingly it worked out and we had enough time. Here is a break down of the costs: There is actually a shuttle bus that goes from downtown Vancouver to Whistler. It costs $40 roundtrip. The seats were very comfortable and there was air conditioning, and this is a good option if you don't want to rent a car. The views on the sea to sky highway were beautiful! The bus stopped in Squamish very briefly so we could use the bathroom at a gas station. I think you have to book this ahead on the Internet. Then it drove on to Whistler Village. Whistler Village is extremely walkable so you don't a car there if you are just going up the gondola because you can easily walk to the gondola place. The gondola ride was expensive: it was $100 Canadian dollars per person! If you are traveling with your whole family this might add up a lot, but if you are here once in your life I think it is worth the splurge because I went up the Gondola near Squamish and the views in Whistler was so much more majestic. I also have some recommendations on affordable -ish (in comparison to the rest of Whistler Village) places to eat in Whistler Village, but I can't remember the names right now so I will write it in the comments

Vancouver

Vancouver is overall a pretty safe city. Exercise caution around the Downtown Eastside neighborhood as there are many homeless and people with addictions and mental illness who may act erratically, but violent incidents are rare.

Mount Pleasant

Vancouver is incredibly safe as a solo woman I have never felt scared or worried. The downtown east side and Chinatown has a lot of homelessness but it is not violent. There is the occasional crime but mostly it’s bike theft. Kitsilano is super safe, as is mount pleasant. I’d stay away from main and Hastings area (and 5 blocks either direction) as that is where the main hub for homelessness is.

Good city to explore. Lots of art, festivals, zoo etc. Different areas and angles of the city to see. Winnipeg is relatively safe if you don’t visit the shady quiet and super dark areas. Beautiful in the summer and very cold in the Winter.

Hamilton is pretty safe for women overall so long that you don’t travel alone at night in some of the sketchier areas (mainly downtown). I come from a small town so it was an adjustment, but overall so long that you don’t bother people they also won’t bother you.

Ottawa is Canada’s capital city. It has a lot of museums, art galleries and government buildings for exploring. There are lots of outdoor activities and hiking spots in and around the city. It is relatively close to Toronto and Montreal. It is safe for women and I would recommend spending 3-5 days in the city to fully explore.

Highly recommend the International Abbotsford Airshow that happens every summer. It's safe, fun and a great experience. It does get extremely hot, so I recommend bringing water, sunscreen, and a portable fan.

Quebec City is a safe place to travel and is a great city for solo female travelers. There are plenty of things to see and do, people are friendly and welcoming. Old Quebec is very walkable so you can lace up your comfy shoes and explore most of the historic sights on doit. I love close to good public transportation system if you want to venture further afield. Quebec oficial language is French, but most people on the tourist industry will speak English as well. Quebec City is a beautiful city with a lot to offer visitors: many free shows, very good table not expensive, easy going people eager to help tourists.

Montreal is a safe place to visit for everyone A lot of place to stay and public transportation is the best way to go around town There is a lot of tourist attractions you can visit in a walking distance and there is also food and music festivals during summer.

Avoid Rideau street at night and dundonald park on Somerset Other than that, it’s pretty safe here. I would recommend pizza nerds or thali it’s a bit expensive but worth it :) Also there are some really nice hikes in Gatineau park

Saint John is a beautiful city! One of the oldest in Canada there is a rich history. Locals are warm and welcoming, lots of good restaurants definitely visit Picaroons if you want to meet some locals. I’ve always felt safe, every once in a while you encounter some characters but I’ve never felt genuinely threatened. Just be aware of your surroundings but there’s not a lot of crime at all
