Solo travel

I went to Cluj for 3 nights in January. It was not the right time to go because it was snowing and you couldn't go outside without slipping almost every few moments. Trips from Cluj were very expensive, and public transportation was not good. I didn't really like this city, but the locals were always very friendly and helpful.

I think it’s really safe. I usually just walk home alone at night. Not gonna lie, there are a lot of idiots around the city, but you can avoid them. I never felt unsafe in this city and I live here since 2024

Cluj-Napoca is in my opinion a safe place. The public transport works good, there are not a lot of robberies here. At night people need to be careful, especially around the train station( there can be dangerous people) , but other than that, i would recommend staying here.

I confidently believe Cluj-Napoca is one of the safest cities in Romania. Walking ar night doesn't make you look over your shoulder, people tend to jump in if they notice distress, cases of robbery are more of exceptions, I haven't encountered or heard of cases of assault or worse. I think there is a higher risk in the neighborhoods in the periphery of Cluj, but overall I'd rate Cluj-Napoca as a very safe city.

During the day the city is mostly allright. It is safe to take walks. During the night you should be more carefull as there are people coming out from bars that may be drunk and in Cluj there are a lot of narrow streets and those are the most unsafe. I wouldn t reccomend walking on them if there are not a lot of people.Men might stare but that's the most they will do. I didn t notice men trying to touch women.

Cluj is a rather safe city, especially during the day. Petty crime might occur at night in isolated areas. But the center and most of the city is pretty safe. Traveling by bus is also ok, you might ocassionally encounter loud people but if you keep your distance it's ok.
