based on 3 experiences from female travelers
I went to Cluj for 3 nights in January. It was not the right time to go because it was snowing and you couldn't go outside without slipping almost every few moments. Trips from Cluj were very expensive, and public transportation was not good. I didn't really like this city, but the locals were always very friendly and helpful.

Cluj-Napoca is very safe city during the day and during the night. People are very welcoming and helpful so no need to be worried about anything there will always be a solution for everything so feel free to approach people and ask for help. Even Bolt drivers are trusty. Enjoyyyy Cluj

It’s the safest city I’ve lived in, even at night. People are kind and always welcome to help anyone. The bus is very accessible to go everywhere and I recommend it, on Friday days it s free. A lot of activities and a beautiful city

i’ve been born here, and i’d say it’s a relatively safe city. pro: it’s a university city so there are many young people on the streets, even at night con: it’s not typical, i’ve experienced catcalling, especially in some areas

It's a city full of students so overall it's very safe, night life is active but there are young and polite people at every corner. In the daytime you really dont have to worry about getting approached as a girl but I would be careful of pickpockets.

I think it’s really safe. I usually just walk home alone at night. Not gonna lie, there are a lot of idiots around the city, but you can avoid them. I never felt unsafe in this city and I live here since 2024
Posted: January 5, 2026Cluj-Napoca is in my opinion a safe place. The public transport works good, there are not a lot of robberies here. At night people need to be careful, especially around the train station( there can be dangerous people) , but other than that, i would recommend staying here.
