There are very few instances in my life experience in which I was bothered, but I never got robbed or felt unsafe after dark, never had to fight. I can recall one experience in which I felt uncomfortable and I ran, but usually I feel safe and comfortable.

Cluj is overral a safe city, I rarely feel uneasy walking alone at night. On public transport there are occasionally drunk or unwell people that should be avoided. City center is very safe, normal caution is advised in regards to your belongings.
Posted: April 22, 2025It was definitely less safe 10 years ago, but I think it has gotten better. I still fear walking alone at night, but in the city center it's fine. There are quite a few drunks wobbling around and seeing someone masturbating is still an often occurrence. I have not been attacked in more then 10 years on the street.
Posted: March 16, 2025I think that Cluj-Napoca is a safe city. I live here from 2022 and I haven't got any negative experience since. There are man who look at you on the bus or on the street but they don't say anything to you. Plus there are people everywhere so they can't do anything to you.

It's a lively city so even if it's late ar night there are always other people walking in the city. Like any other city there are some infamous zones you don't want to be alone after dark, but overall I never felt unsafe in this city in a few years since I've been here

Cluj-Napoca is one of the places i’ve felt safest in, both as a woman and as a queer person, as most of the population is young people, mainly students and open minded people. The communities in Cluj are very diverse, as people come from all over the world for its great universities and nightlife, and people are nice and chatty.
Posted: January 14, 2025As any city, you can’t be 100% sure. But overall I’d say it’s pretty safe. There are some I wouldn’t walk at night but the center of the city is nice and as far as i saw pretty busy at night. And also the people are really nice if you’re lost or need help
Posted: January 12, 2025I think Cluj Napoca is a safe city. It's not as big by default, and mainly te city center is is such a friendly place. The streets are lightened well. I live here for 3 years, and never had any problems.
Posted: January 9, 2025As far as I know, Cluj is one of the safest european cities. I can walk at night and feel kinda safe (nothing has happened to me or any of my friends). I mean there are a few catcallers on the street or public transport but they usually only talk, they never touch you or anything. Once a man grabbed my butt when I was 14 but that was an isolated case.

Cluj is a city kinda small town but full of students from all over the world and it has also been rated as one of the safest big cities in Europe so I don't really worry about any crime stuff on my day to day life. Clubbing and night life is also very safe, and you can always ask for a helping hand from strangers if you feel you're in danger.
Posted: January 3, 2025I went to Cluj for 3 nights in January. It was not the right time to go because it was snowing and you couldn't go outside without slipping almost every few moments. Trips from Cluj were very expensive, and public transportation was not good. I didn't really like this city, but the locals were always very friendly and helpful.
