It is safe! In romania of course there are some people who steal but its like tgat in almost every country.... Just dont leave your things unsupervised and all will be ok. There miggt be pickpockets on the crowded busses but i never encountered one. Thank you

It is generally a safe town because there's a lot of youth and it's a vibrant city. There are a few neighbourhoods that are not as safe (deep in Marasti or Manastur), but as travellers I don't think you could end up there as long as you take care when looking for accommodation. And even in those parts, generally the people are not aggresive, you might encounter drunks or things but they don't attack others.
Posted: September 4, 2024Cluj-Napoca is one of the safest cities in Romania. During the day I find it very safe, at night I would avoid some places such as the train station or "Piata Mărăști", or the neighbourhood called "Mănăștur". Nothing extremly dangerous, just a light feeling of unease.

In the last 7 years that I’ve been living in Cluj, I can’t say there was a time when I’ve ever felt unsafe and I’ve walked alone at any hour, be it day time or night time I totally recommend Cluj for solo women travellers!

Cluj is a really safe place to travel to. Romanians in general are really friendly and they’ll help you with any problems you have. If you’re part of a minority community people might stare at you because you look different but they aren’t aggressive, just curious.
Posted: May 25, 2024It has some areas that should be avoided(especially as a girl), but even there the risks of any sort of harrassment are low. I recommend staying in the city center at night and finding accomodation there as well.
Posted: February 20, 2024I went to Cluj for 3 nights in January. It was not the right time to go because it was snowing and you couldn't go outside without slipping almost every few moments. Trips from Cluj were very expensive, and public transportation was not good. I didn't really like this city, but the locals were always very friendly and helpful.
