Is Cremona safe for solo female travelers?

Cremona is generally a safe city for solo female travelers. It is a smaller town known for violin production with a peaceful ambiance. However, just like any other destinations, it's crucial to maintain typical travel precautions, such as not wandering into secluded areas late at night and keeping tabs on your belongings. Locals are amicable, and crime rates are relatively low. However, availability of English speakers may be limited.

Cremona is beautiful, but small city close to Milan. 1 day is enough to visit it. It has the typical small streets and local shops and a beautiful central square. I do recommend to visit the tower and cathedral. All the way on the top, you have a wide view over Cremona and the neighboring towns and if the weather's good, you can see the mountains!

How safe is Cremona for women?

There have been more episodes of aggression or violence recently, but overall it is a peaceful place. I also know police control has increased which is a sign that they will be more onto any occurrences that may happen.

Cremona is a small city. You can easily visit it on foot in one day, or even better by bike. The station is close to the center but in the evening there is no surveillance and some people who don't have a home, they sleep there. Most of the time they are quiet, they don't bother you by following you, cat calling you or similar, very few times it happens that someone, having drunk a little more, shout or rant in a higher voice but the situation ends up there. Other places where you need to be a little more careful are public gardens (only a portion of them, the one without light), unfortunately between the lack of management by the municipality and some uncivilized people, there are dark dirty areas. But as in the previous case, just don't visit it at night.

About me

Ciao! I'm Anna, a girl from Barcelona currently living in Cremona as a volunteer. While I'm here, I'm trying to explore Italy, so I'd love to meet new people who can show me their city and maybe host me for a night or two. Of course, I'd be happy to do the same in Cremona — which is a lovely city — and in Barcelona once I'm back home! I'm still learning Italian, but I can speak it fluently and understand it very well, though my writing isn't perfect yet. I hope to see you soon! 😊
