Budapest is a beautiful city, very safe if you are in a group of girls, alone I don't know. It's a fun city that always offers something different and culturally spectacular. I've met new people who have given me lots of advice on the right and uncommon places to visit. There are many Italians ready to give you their opinion :)

I ended up in Budapest by accident while traveling with a friend in a makeshift camper (pseudo-camper). The Hungarian capital is beautiful, but unfortunately very crowded. I was delighted to eat lángos again after 10 years, as I have always been a huge fan of them. The city has very good public transport and many beautiful landmarks on both sides of the Danube. I also came across an interesting student integration tradition: the first-year students were bathing in the fountain! I wasn't there for long, but everyone I interacted with was very kind and open, and I have fond memories of that day

I live this city and its monumental feeling. People are friendly, I felt safe, transport is easy and cheap if you get the 14 day pass. I stayed in the Buda side close to liberty bridge, good food specially with dietary restrictions. Get in touch for specific recommendations 🥰
Posted: December 12, 2025Beautiful place, georgous views, lots to do from museums, shops, boat ride, lots of bars and restaurants, as a tourist there were a few stares but that's normal. Quite expensive for food but its to be expected, overall, amazing place that I'd revisit.
Posted: November 17, 2025Experienced: March, 2025The transportation was pretty good, and I felt mostly safe, even in a taxi. The attractions were great, I also visited some bars, the vibes were excellent. I stayed with a friend, so I can't say anything about hotel prices, but about prices in general, it was all very cheap.

In my opinion Budapest is one of the safest city in Europe. The most common crime is theft, but only if you go in those areas of the city. That doesn't mean that you can leave your stuff alone but you don't have to be stressed at keeping your stuff at a safe place. In daytime the city is safe, but when the sun sets I recommend avoiding the 8th district (starting from Blaha Lujza tér and népszínház utca).

Buda and Pest are a little bit different. Buda is much more safer than Pest. Avoid VIII district day and night :) I live in Buda with parks and very good atmosphere with families and outdoor activities.

Most of Budapest is safe, and during the day you are unlikely to encounter any incidents. The biggest risks tend to be in mainstream tourist bars and nightlife spots. Overall, I consider it a very safe city; occasional discomfort is usually caused by drunk or drug-affected people, but that can happen anywhere.
Posted: January 6, 2026Sopron is a really safe town. You can travel even solo, however in the evenings most of the shops might be closed besides some restaurants and cafes. There is a university, some schools, so that there is no so many students. Most of people are elderly and very kind people.
Posted: December 22, 2025The city is mostly quiet. Crimes do happen occasionally, but their number is so low that people can talk about a single incident for months or even years. Even in the countryside or not far from the capital, it’s already very quiet and green. And I’m in love with it

Hi! I'm Anita, living in Budapest. I'm about to visit some countries. I really enjoy to try cultural dishes, and making new friends. :) (If you watching my profile for accomodation, I have two cats, so if you allergic to cat hair, sorrily I'm not a good choice. :-( )

I’m Melinda, a 32 y/o phd student (in law), and assistant professor (in health sociology) from Hungary, University of Szeged; but I’m a crazy, three hugging redhead too. I’m a pianist, and sociologyst at the same time. I love making new friends, talking about the univers, the meaning of life, listening music together, and talking about our impressions, and looking for figures in the clouds. I’m also a big foodie, and open to try all kinds of food and new experiences, but i’m vegan (also for healt reasons). I prefer the non-touristy stuffs.
