Budapest during the day if very safe,(at least that's how experienced it), during night be a bit more aware on public transportation(especially tram 4-6 and such) because there can be some interesting people, whom I would avoid. But if you are in a group you will be more than fine. Also look out for pick pockets, especially on tram 4-6. District I would avoid:8th
Posted: October 9, 2024It is hard question to answer. I would probably say that in Europe it is one of the most safety cities. But i would probably recommend no one to be alone at night, there can be very guilty and scary people on the street. You have to have spray in your bag or be with at least with another person.

My city is a safe european city maybe even safer than some of the capitals of bigger european countries now. As a small country we face less possilility of terrorism, the streets and pulbic transport is regularry safe, I travel alone at night as well, the streets are well enlighted.
Posted: September 18, 2024I feel safer than in any italian cities. I did experience uncomfortable situations before but for me Budapest is one of the safest cities from the cities that I traveled to before. And I am a paranoid person
Posted: September 16, 2024Budapest is fairly safe, you might meet with some loud people catcalling, and of course there are some unrecommended areas, but if you move around with common sense, it is a safe place to live and travel to
Posted: September 15, 2024I come from a Latin American country and the shock of safety here was highly positive - no need to walk on streets looking backwards, no need to avoid streets after a certain time. Here in Budapest, I feel so free as a woman to behave as I want. The only bad experiences I had related to harassment were done by tourists, so I cannot blame the city for it. It is a lovely place to visit. P.s.: Budapest has a big problem with drug/alcohol abuse so there are a lot of altered people on the streets, but they are not a risk or danger at all, at least I've never seen any causing trouble. Don't be scared of them, don't interact either, just walk away ;)
Posted: September 12, 2024Budapest is my home. Love to walk around in the city, watching the beautiful buildings and just feel the history surrounding me. Love how the Hungarians are open and helpful with anything and how my beautiful country lives up to the people expectations.
Posted: September 4, 2024As women I think we face more danger. I've never come across very aggressive harassment thankfully, but in the dark when there are fever people I try to be more cautious. F.e. at metro stations in the city there could be some homeless people who will ask for money but I've never encountered an aggressive person, maybe seen some of them have a fight amongst themselves. Also the 4-6 tram line which is very popular can be used by some people that lack manners, and (thankfully just once) I've encountered verbal sexual harassment on it. But I'm not someone who gets hit on a lot even at a bar so... All in all I've mostly seen that people are usually all talks and no action.

I’m living in Budapeste for 3 years and I feel very safe here. With public transportation (that’s one of best in Europe) or walking around alone after 12am, safe enough to use my earphones 😁 Nothing bad never happened to me on the streets or at home. But in parties you must take care of your surroundings, since people get really drunk here bc of the cheap drinks 🤷🏽♀️ and they can go crazy.
Posted: August 26, 2024In my opinion, it's one of the safest big cities in Europe. Of course you shouldn't hang around unlit parks or sketchy places at night, but that's just common sense. As a woman, I feel safe walking alone at night.

Yes I feel really safe in Budapest. Beautiful architecture, good food, and relatively inexpensive compared to other countries in Europe. Id definitely recommend going here, there's so much stuff to see and do, maybe better 3 days to soak it all in!

This was my first time traveling to Budapest. The city was very beautiful but a bit dirty. People were kind but the food in the city centre was a bit expensive. We paid 95€ for 3 pizzas and a salad (plus 4 beers). So I recommend eating a little more far from the city centre. We visited the Zoo, The Parliament, Citadella, Van Gogh's expedition, and it was amazing. Just pick a colder weather as it can get too hot there. Public transport was easy to use and understand. People can speak English well in restaurants, shops, public places, etc. There are few homeless people that may try to talk to you. I didn't walk alone in the evening but I didn't notice anything dangerous.
