Is Thasos safe for solo female travelers?

Thasos is widely perceived as a haven for solo female travelers. Thanks to its friendly and welcoming local inhabitants, low crime rate, and well-structured tourist environment, visitors generally feel very secure while exploring the island's stunning landscapes and historical sites. The Greek have a culture of courtesy, particularly towards women, and you can expect a sense of respect in your interactions. Extra caution, as in any location, should always be practiced, but Thasos offers a generally carefree travel experience.

Family travel

I was on Thassos between 9-17 July 2025, just me and mom. We went with my car (Romania-Bulgaria-Greece) and we slept 1 night in bulgaria (Hotel Chinar - really nice), to go on Thassos you use fery (25€ for car and 5€ per person). In Thassos we felt safe and we enjoyed the food and also the greek night (you have to check the restaurants, many have music live, you have to try it), The prices are affortable and the views and the beaches are amaizing.

Couple travel

It felt very safe but it might be because we went September and the official season was over, there weren’t many restaurants that worked after 8/9 pm, and the one that worked was average at best, plus if you get water and bread in Greece right after you sit down, you will get charged 3 euros, even if you don’t touch it at all. There are a lot of places to go, you can get there with a ferry and its like 20/30 euros for your car. With a car we managed to go around the whole island for like 6/7 hours + stopping for pictures and visiting places. Out of season we paid 40€ per night for a studio.
