Safety at night:

Safety at night:Safe

Wuppertal is generally safe for walking alone at night. Many areas are well-lit and frequently patrolled. However, like any city, precautions should still be taken, such as avoiding deserted or poorly lit areas whenever possible. It is always better to be cautious, have a clear route in mind, and not hesitate to use a taxi if necessary.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Wuppertal's public transportation, which includes the unique and efficient suspension railway known as 'Schwebebahn', buses and trains, is generally safe and reliable, with crime rates relatively low. However, as with any city, late night travels and less crowded areas may pose occasional risks. Always triple check your schedules and surroundings for optimum safety.

Wuppertal is generally considered safe for solo female travelers. Street harassment is not commonplace and locals are often respectful and welcoming. However, like anywhere else, it can occasionally occur. Therefore, it is advised to stay alert in crowded places and during the night, especially if you are alone. Understanding a few phrases in German may also be helpful. Overall, authorities and police are reliable should you need assistance.

Wuppertal has safe areas and areas, where I wouldn't be alone as a girl at night. So it depends where you are. The City for example is okay. Furthermore I haven't had any issues here in the past. I can recommend it.

Pretty safe. Certain places such as Oberbarmen are less safe and should be avoided after dark or only visited while being more aware of surroundings. Any bigger city experiences petty crime but I have not personally met anyone who has been attacked in the years I have lived here. As a woman I feel safe walking around after dark and using public transport when alone.

About Me

I am a queer travel nut 🌈❤️ and I just love exploring new places and meeting people. I’ve already lived in a couple really cool places around the world. Though for now I am back in Germany and traveling as much as I can. I am mostly going on very minimalistic, low budget backpacking or bike packing trips. But my goal for this year is buying and building my own van ☺️
