Speyer is a beautiful small town near the region often referred to as the “German Tuscany.” There are many lovely places to visit nearby, and the town itself offers several attractions, which is why it’s a popular destination for tourists. The people here are generally friendly and welcoming. The Palatinate region is famous for its many wine festivals, and especially in spring and summer, there are plenty of events and town festivals where you can easily connect with others. As a woman, it’s unfortunately true that there’s an increased risk of assault almost everywhere in the world. While I wouldn’t claim that Speyer is completely free of such risks, I’ve personally had very few encounters with anything like that during my time here. Overall, I’d describe Speyer as a peaceful town where women can feel safe moving around on their own. The risks here don’t seem particularly high to me.
