Saarbrücken, our state capital located just 10 km away, has an average overall safety level. In contrast, the small village of Bliesransbach – part of the nearby municipality of Kleinblittersdorf – is a very safe and peaceful place.

I'd say it's a pretty safe city, I've never felt threatened in the slightest. I routinely walk around alone and at night. The city center is usually lively, especially on the weekends. I have heard of bikes getting stolen but it hasn't happened to me. But please keep in mind that I'm a white woman from Germany and can only speak to that specific experience

lots of foreigners staring at you and moving into your personal space. experienced comments several times and they wouldn’t go away even when I told them. at several places in the center there might be drunk people or taking drugs
