Mainz is a very safe city all in all, sometimes you’ll see strange people but normally the won’t do anything to you, the worst they will to is make strange noises towards you when walking by or looking at you
Posted: October 9, 2025Honestly, Mainz feels very safe to me. The worst interactions I generally have are with rude waiters, which should give you an idea of how safe the city feels to me. I walk alone at night regularly and I've never had any issues.
Posted: August 1, 2025i would say Mainz is a safe city in general, just sometimes there are some shitheads that wanna mess with you (i experienced a few times, most of them were men), idk if it’s because i’m Asian lol, but safe yeah

It feels very safe and many pathways are well enlightened. If you can do not stay at Mombach or Lerchenberg. These feel less safe but over all are still not to be worried about. I have not experienced many problematic situations!

Hey:) i live and study in Mainz and feel at home here and safe. Definitely during the day, at night i’d say it’s the same safety hazards you’d have anywhere, I mean, men are men…🫠 Anyways, I often walked home alone after going out and nothing ever happened, stay safe girls xx
Posted: February 20, 2025The safety map shows areas in Mainz where women have reported feeling unsafe.

Hi, I'm Sarah. I live in Germany and I can offer to sleep on my couch in the living room. I speak German and English and I am currently (re)learning French. I am very interested in French language exchange. I love travelling, particularly in / to India. I can be very sociable, but I also enjoy doing things on my own.
