Is Duisburg safe for solo female travelers?

Duisburg provides a generally safe environment for solo female travelers. Crime rates are relatively lower compared to other big cities or tourist locations across the globe. Always walking in well-lit areas at night and avoiding all-night eateries/bars is advisable. Public transport is reliable and safe, but it's always a good idea to be alert and aware of your surroundings. Police presence is significant, providing an additional layer of security. In conclusion, overall safety is quite high, but like anywhere else, necessary precautions should be taken.

Duisburg is Safe the most of the time. There are some areas like Duisburg Marxloh, Hamborn and Hochfeld you shouldn’t go as a stranger. If you know this areas, is still safe but you wouldn’t feel good especially in the evening or in the night. During the day it’s always safe.

Normally its safe except some areas. Hochfeld, Hamborn and Marxloh are regions with a lot of foreigners. The South of Duisburg is much safer than the North of Duisburg. But most importantly we are very friendly.

As a woman, I oftentimes feel on edge, but in Duisburg, I always make sure to double check my surroundings. Some neighborhoods are better than others, but in areas like city center or district centers one can stumble upon drunks, addicts, and just people, who like disrupting public peace. This goes for public transportation. I would suggest keeping a low profile and avoiding eye contact with anyone who might look sketchy to you.
