I'm usually not walking around alone at night, always with friends, but I do take the tram/ bus late a night sometimes. There are some drunk people occasionally, but nothing ever happened - just sit close to the driver, if you feel unsafe. I would avoid parks at night, especially the Herrengarten, but otherwise I'd say it's really safe. I personally have never had a bad experience. Hope this helps :)

Darmstadt is a very safe place where I feel comfortable to live. Of course here are some crimes too but I think they mostly don't affect tourists. Sometimes things laying around at parties (hausis) get stolen but not often and not with violence. There are also some strange dudes out there but I never heard of someone getting assaulted or anything by strangers in darmstadt.

Darmstadt is during the day mostly safe. There will always be people and you rarely have places where there are no people living for emergencies. There are even cameras installed on the Luisenplatz, but that speaks more for crime happening especially there.

Its a safe city! Police is aware and people are nice and open to help. Its a student city with lots of young people. If bad things happen, it's drunk teenagers, but no need to worry! Pro tip: Download the App "Heinerliner". It's sponsored by the city and has really cheap taxis (~3€ per ride and person).
