Oulu is a safe city with secured environment. Night time is no different than the day time when it comes to safety. Everyone minds their own business and it is very unlikely to experience something opposite regarding on my experience

It’s a safe city, allthough right in the city centre there are some drug addicts and alcoholics hanging out, but so far I haven’t had any kind of contact from them. Also some bars have a reputation about drink spiking so definitely should look out for that.

-Overall I'd say Oulu is very safe city for women in general and for solo travellers. Finnish people tend to be very private and respect others' personal space in that manner. BUT ofcouse, like everywhere, there are the few drunken individuals whom do the opposite. But in daylight, Finland is very safe to go around. - Accomondations are mostly chainbrands and high quality and safe. -Public transport super easy and safe. -Most Finnish people are able to speak English and aren't rude or unwilling to help, if needed. But they can be a bit shy at first.
Posted: April 12, 2025Overall, it’s a safe city. Nothing bad ever happened to me, and I’ve lived here around four years now. I’m not afraid of walking alone or using public transport at night. There are quite a lot of junkies in city centre (Valkea and some parks) but I’ve never faced any problems with them.
Posted: February 4, 2025Oulu is overall a peaceful city and safe for solo female travelers. locals are friendly and willing to help if needed. no pickpockets at all. some areas are safer than others. you can feel comfortable exploring Oulu on your own.
