Oulu is a very safe city to visit, most than any other place that I have visited so far. Finnish people tend to be quiet and respectful. In here, is a mix of countryside and big city (for Finnish standards). There is a big variety of culture due to the university bringing international students and staffs. In general the biggest issue is with stolen bikes, mainly performed by drunk people to bike back home.
Posted: July 1, 2024Very safe small city, I have often walked home from nightclubs and never had other than pleasant encounters with other nocturnal creatures. :-) obviously normal precautions should be taken so never leave your drink unattended etc. Public transportation is safe but some taxi companies are more reliable than others, I prefer Otaxi.
