Solo travel

I absolutely loved living and working in Tampere. Kind people. Lovely sights. Beautiful forests. Loved experiencing snow the first time. If you love nature, you will love this city for sure Got to see the Moomin museum. Got to go to visit Vapriiki museum. Lots to see and experience.

Never felt unsafe walking home or taking transit by myself any time of the day. Most residents speak perfect English, which is helpful as Finnish is proving somewhat difficult to learn. Buses are reliable and city is very walkable.

Safe, never been in a dangerous situation but sometimes at night there's some creeps in the city centre. I would recommend walking with someone during night if possible. During day it's very safe and people are nice!

Unfortunatelly a few shootings happened months ago but it was shockingly rare and overall Tampere is a very-very safe city. People loves to drink, so the drunk might be concerning but nothing serious.

I feel safe here. Finns tend to leave you alone and respect your privacy and space. If you need help in Finland, it's best to ask for it, because here personal space is honoured and it's considered rude to approach you directly. Don't take this aloofness as Finns being rude :) here even celebrities can walk the street undisturbed. People will gladly help if you ask. Be warned though: usually shy Finnish men can become very "friendly" and curious when drunk. They are mostly harmless and don't...
