I absolutely loved living and working in Tampere. Kind people. Lovely sights. Beautiful forests. Loved experiencing snow the first time. If you love nature, you will love this city for sure Got to see the Moomin museum. Got to go to visit Vapriiki museum. Lots to see and experience.

Unfortunatelly a few shootings happened months ago but it was shockingly rare and overall Tampere is a very-very safe city. People loves to drink, so the drunk might be concerning but nothing serious.

I feel safe here. Finns tend to leave you alone and respect your privacy and space. If you need help in Finland, it's best to ask for it, because here personal space is honoured and it's considered rude to approach you directly. Don't take this aloofness as Finns being rude :) here even celebrities can walk the street undisturbed. People will gladly help if you ask. Be warned though: usually shy Finnish men can become very "friendly" and curious when drunk. They are mostly harmless and don't usually touch you.

Tampere is very safe and calm city. There may be some sexually harassing comments especially in the nightlife. The city centre may be a bit uneasy at weekend nights when there is drunken people around. Other than that, super safe. There is no need to worry about getting robbed or attacked.
Posted: August 10, 2025It is very safe. Crimes are rare and as a woman i feel completely safe in Tampere. Even at night i dont have to be scared. Obviously still i wouldn't go to some dark places at night alone, but as long as you use common sense, you will be fine
Posted: July 7, 2025I have lived in Tampere for a few years and have not experienced harassment or become a victim of crime. It is safe to walk on the streets in the evenings and at night. There are occasional crimes in Tampere, but the risk is low.

I'm Miriam and I come from Finland. Every now and then I travel around Europe by land and I enjoy staying with the locals the most, since it gives me an opportunity to meet cool, interesting people and get a glimpse of their daily lives. Right now I study English at the university, aiming for a career in translation (not the best option now that ai has taken over). In my free time I concentrate on my various hobbies. I love circus arts and am really into aerial acrobacy. I am also learning Japanese tea ceremony which is a big passion of mine. Other things I enjoy are mushroom hunting, dance, cooking and reading.

Artist and animal lover from Finland!History and culture enthusiast. Raised in London, where I frequently like to visit. Living in gorgeous Pispala in city of Tampere, Finland. I have a guest bedroom, a rickety old motorhome and a very friendly and clingy cat. Barnacle more than cat if I'm honest! I can accomodate two people. I'm mostly at home or at the ceramic studio. The house is a "quiet house", where all tennants prefer peace and quiet. So you'll probably sleep well! It's an old wooden house in picturesque Pispala. 5min walk to lake or bus stop, 4km to central square. I'm LGBTQ friendly, I don't drink alcohol but I don't mind if you do.

Tampere
Hi, I'm Sam - I'm Canadian, relocating to Tampere, Finland for 2026 for my husband's job. I'm bringing my dog (obviously, he's part of the family), and looking forward to explore the pristine nature in our temporary hometown. I'm trying to teach myself Finnish, but I'm sure you can guess how well that's been going. So if you're in the area, and can humor me by speaking English while I struggle to learn the language, I would love to hear from you! Open to all sorts of activities, classes, adventures, merriment, and shenanigans.
