The city and activities was great I jjust would alert other girls that are traveling alone about a dangerous guy! I met him in Christmas house safari and in the beginning he was very polite however after that I lived in a nightmare. I also met other 2 girls that had the same issue. His name is Fabio! Just take care because he seems very lovely guy but at the end you will be grateful that you dont have serious issue if you are lucky
Posted: March 7, 2024I flew to Helsinki, and then I took a train to Rovaniemi. I saw the Santa Claus Village, their shopping center in Viking style, an ice hotel, and a dog sled ride, which I highly recommend. The best part was a half-day icebreaker cruise. It's an incredible feeling to be on a boat that clears the way for other boats to continue delivering. We even had a chance to put on dry suits and swim with mini icebergs. I took the train from Helsinki both ways. It was an amazing journey.
Posted: February 14, 2023I stayed in a hotel that was wonderful but very expensive. Everything was very close, and I also used taxis. I rode snow scooters, dog sleds, visited Santa Claus's village and was on a reindeer farm. It was amazing.

I mean Finland in general is considered pretty safe. People can leave out their stuff to save a seat for themselves and no one will steal things. Except for bicycles, they will be stolen and broken if not locked. I've personally never been afraid of walking alone in the dark, I find it very calming and peaceful. If you walk by a bar at night you might hear some cat calling from drunk men but I've never experienced anything worse than that.
Posted: October 18, 2025For me Rovaniemi has been safe, I feel comfortable walking in the evenings as well. I have heard that in bars it’s not always safe, spikings of drinks can happen, so that is something to be careful about.
Posted: July 26, 2025Rovaniemi is a very safe place overall. Of course, if you go to bars, it's a good idea to watch your drink and your back, but I have never had any bad experiences. At bars there will always be old men who think they can get too close, but they usually believe when you tell them to back off. The bouncers are also very kind and will help you if you need help.
Posted: March 15, 2025Rovaniemi is a very safe city to travel. I’ve lived there 5 years and never had any problems or safety issues, no matter what time of day I’ve been outside (even walking home after bar at midnight). Locals are usually friendly and helpful and will help you if you get in trouble.
