I tend to visit late as I live in the nearby city and the nightlife is better, and I generally feel safe and aren't concerned about being by myself even if it's in the middle of the night and it's less crowded.

we went to helsinki with my friends on a ferry for one day. that was actually really fun! we went to see some free museums, national library, walked in city centre, went on small shopping in “normal” and “stockmann” and had dinner. we felt really safe there, walking alone with girls only. i really want to recommend y’all Leaf buffet. it is located in forum mall on 0 floor. so u basically pay 14€ per one person and u can have any amount of food u want. there was like 20 types of sushi, soup, some meat, drinks, salads, fruits and cake. recommend visiting helsinki!

Solo travel

I felt extremely safe during my trip. The city and public transportation are well organized. I really enjoyed mu time there. However, the city was quite pricey comparing to other european cities. I stayed at a hostel for like 8 days and it was comfortable as well but if you have the budget I would recommend staying at a hotel or an airbnb.

Helsinki and Finland in general is a totally safe place to visit alone as a woman. I had no problems at all and it is one of the safest places I have ever been to. It is a very expensive city and Finland in general as well. The cheapest cup of coffee can cost you around 5/6 euros and an average meal can go around 25/30 euros per dish. I recommend you to visit helsinki's public library which is very very interesting to discover and it also has an affordable cafe and buffet (13 euros)

Really safe the only strange people are the drunks in the city center and teenager in the late vening going for a drink. Most of the homeles people have social houses so they are out only during the day time to collect cans and etc.

as a woman and a poc, nowhere is truly safe.. but i’ve always described about helsinki or finland as somewhere you dont normally travel to, but you would wanna live in. people are generally helpful and majority speak good english even though we dont typically start a conversation with you.
