Jyväskylä is safe place to visit as almost every place in Finland. Dont go to Pupuhuhta if you dont want to see alcoholic people, but in centrum Jyväskylä its safe place to visit and live. I have been living here couple years now and I dont have seen any broblems here. You are welcome to visit my home town.
Posted: September 25, 2025Really safe city for a woman to travel, also for solo travellers. You can walk on the streets without the fear of someone harassing you and in the evening when sun sets there's no danger of getting raped or kidnapped.

I would say that my city is safe for woman and I personally never experienced harassment or dangerous situations. Thought from time to time some crimes happen overall it’s safe, just be careful as usual.

Pretty safe, don’t trust people in the night life though. People are overall nice and as long as you don’t talk to strangers too much you will be quite safe. Pupuhuhta and Kangaslampi are considered more sketchy parts of the city.
Posted: May 31, 2025Jyväskylä is overall safe, but be cautious in the city center at night because that's when drunk people are there. It has gotten more dangerous if we compare now to 10 years ago but still there's mostly nothing to worry about.
