How safe is Brno?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Safe

Brno, being the second-largest city in the Czech Republic, offers pretty good safety conditions, even at night. The central areas are well lit and usually have some pedestrian traffic until late. Public transport, including night buses and trams, runs regularly if you need to get around. Like anywhere else, nominal risk exists, especially in less crowded and dimly lit areas. Take standard precautions such as avoiding deserted areas, keeping an eye on your belongings, and having your phone handy.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Brno is generally safe. Buses, trams, and trains operate frequently and routes are extensive. Even during late hours, safety measures are in place such as proper lighting and security cameras. While it is important to always stay alert for personal belongings, incidents of pick-pocketing or harassment are relatively rare. As with any location, it is still recommended to maintain vigilance and awareness of one's surroundings.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Brno, being the second-largest city in the Czech Republic, is generally considered quite safe, especially for solo female travelers. However, like any other place, there may be occasional unpleasant encounters. Incidents of street harassment are rare and usually limited to drunken behavior on nights or weekends. Residents are generally mindful of personal boundaries.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Pickpocketing and other forms of street crime can still occur, particularly in crowded areas and on public transportation. However, these instances are not as frequent. Proper vigilance and care with personal belongings largely reduce the risk of encountering such incidents.
Tap water:

Tap water:Very safe

Brno has an excellent quality of tap water. Not only is it fresh and safe for direct consumption, but it meets the standards of drinking water quality. They have extensive testing protocols in place to ensure the water's safety and quality on a continuous basis. Thus, feel free to bring your refillable water bottle.

As always, it depends on which part of the city you're in. In daylight I wouldn't be worried anywhere, at night/when it gets dark I wouldn't recommend going through Cejl or being at main train station alone. Not that anything would happen to you, but some really weird individuals are there at night and I personally feel uneasy traveling through there alone at night. Ignore drunks and ignore sketchy looking people. Czechs aren't usually very talkative with strangers, so some random person talkig to me on the street would raise some red flags for me (but in bars/clubs/pubs or other social spaces people can be friendly)

I would say that Brno is quite save place. You just need ti svoje certain places at night (main train station and a pls d called "Cejl") and watch your stuff. Im not usually worried at night going by myself home.

I loved Brno and I really enjoyed it there. Great shopping, food, very affordable prices, beautiful cathedral, cool castle, and excellent beers. The old town is beautiful.
