Visited Loket in February 2025. It's a very small town that works great for a trip that is a day or two long. The castle is awesome - you pay 7€ for and explore EVERYTHING, all the towers & dungeons included. Unfortunately the Museum of Secret Societies was closed at the time, but I'd visit that, too. Very cozy brightly colored houses, great price to entertainment ratio for the castle, very few people this time of year.
Posted: February 18, 2025Experienced: January, 2025Really very very beautiful area. Beautiful forests, especially in autumn. Peaceful, not so many tourists, lots of castles, nice views, beautiful nature. As for safety, it's completely fine, we never met any suspicious people here. We must recommend the restaurant "Restaurace v Ráji" in the village "Ráj". Perhaps the best meal we've had so far. Large portions and surprisingly low price. Mácha Lake is very beautiful. You can swim here in the summer. We also recommend visiting the nearby ruins of Bezděz Castle. The hike is not difficult and it is a place everyone must visit. "Byl pozdní večer, první máj. První máj byl lásky čas. Hrdliččin zval ku lásce hlas, kde borový zaváněl háj." This is part of a poem in the original language by the writer Karel Hynek Mácha, who spent a lot of time in these regions and later IT was named here after him. This poem is very beautiful and it is our cultural treasure. Check it out.
Posted: February 16, 2025Experienced: September, 2024I felt really safe in Prague. Even though it got dark very early, I enjoyed walking around the city alone in the evenings, even in the less touristy areas. It was super easy to get around using public transport. You just have to remember to stamp your ticket. (;
Posted: February 6, 2025Experienced: November, 2024Soo first things first. Food was good 👍🏻 - But I hab to admit since the famous Christmas market was open, it was very crowded - in the city center you could not even walk through properly. - For my shopping queens 👸 is it a nice destination; not too expensive - watch out for tourist traps - some restaurants in the city center will charge a lot and the food is not even as good. - So if you do your research before the trip, you will have a good and also cultural enriching experience in Prague. 😇

I went to prague with 2 friends to see the christmas market. Its free so very Crowded and expensive (local restaurants not so expensive tho). Its a small city but if you have plenty things to do: see the Castel, try absinthery, hot wine, eat all the local stuff etc. You also have 2 Anonymous bar very Nice and different but you have to book earlier (at least a week). You can do everythingg walking. I felt very safe there. I never felt so cold in my whole life (-10°) so prepare yourself !!

Prague is a very safe city, I felt really comfortable during my trip. Of course, like any touristy place, it’s good to stay alert for pickpockets in busy areas, but other than that, everything was great. Among the must-see spots, I recommend visiting Charles Bridge and enjoying the view of the Vltava River, as well as Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. The Old Town Square with the Astronomical Clock is also a must-see, and Letná Park offers a beautiful view of the city. I’d avoid restaurants too close to Charles Bridge, as they’re expensive and the food isn’t always worth it. Prague’s cuisine is amazing, especially goulash, trdelník, and svíčková. If you want to eat well, go to Lokál Dlouhááá for traditional food or Café Savoy for a delicious breakfast. As for the budget, Prague is pretty affordable. Accommodation costs between €30-€50 per night, and a meal is about €10-€15. Public transport is efficient and costs about €5-€10 per day. In total, about €50-€80 per day is enough to enjoy and explore the city. I stayed at Hotel Botanique, which has a great location and comfortable rooms. Getting around the city is easy; I used the metro and tram a lot, but since the city is compact, it’s also very walkable. One important tip: the transport ticket should be validated ONLY ONCE, and from that time, it’s valid for the duration you selected at the time of purchase. Validating the ticket multiple times, as we do in Paris, will invalidate the ticket and you could get fined. On my itinerary, on the first day, I visited Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, and Letná Park. On the second day, I went to Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, and ended the day with a boat tour. On the third day, I explored the Jewish Quarter and relaxed with a beer at Riegrovy Sady.
Posted: January 9, 2025Experienced: January, 2025I had a wonderful time in Prague. They have a lot of locals who do tours to less known places in Prague and they were wonderful. I would definitely recommend Ondra and Jakub who do local tours and share great tips for Prague. You can find them on AirBnb. Definitely try to choose restaurants outside of the main square in Old Town, the less touristy, the better. I got scammed in one of the Švejk (famous fictional character in Czech culture) restaurants and the food was worse than horrible. I had the best pizza in Prague in an authentic Italian restaurant. The tiramisu was also excellent. I recommend going up the mountain to the monastery and getting the beer they make on the spot. But also, visit the old library. Kafka and Muccha museums were both great and the prices in Prague were reasonable for me.
Posted: January 6, 2025Experienced: October, 2023the trip to prague was really amazing), the city felt safe and welcoming throughout my visit. I really liked and recommend exploring the old town square, charles bridge, amd prague castle - they look stunning. for food, local restaurants and cafes were really affordable and cozy
Posted: January 4, 2025Experienced: September, 2024I felt really safe in Prague, even by night, me and my friends really enjoyed the city and the contrast between past and future. I surely recommend the city to a solo traveller, because it's pretty cheap (not as much as i expected) and well connected. You mostly pay by card, but remind that some shops accept only cash (rarely). For the most visited places, i recommend booking in advance, as for this reason we couldn't visit the old library. I recommend the Kampa Museum if you love art.♡
Posted: December 30, 2024Experienced: June, 2024I was in Prague before Christmas and the atmosphere was amazing. It was a bit crowded but I think it‘s because of the period that I went. Definitely go to different museums and to the castle. I would not recommend the jellyfish museum - nothing special to see. Prague it’s kind of expensive so prepare bigger budget for this city. There are a lot of good hostels so if you can’t find a hotel in a good price you can definitely find a hostel. We were at hostel exactly at the centre of the city and everything was perfect. Most of the places are very walkable so we almost didn’t use a public transport. For the food if you want to try something traditional definitely go to a restaurant but also if you don’t like it there are also a lot of places for street food.

I can walk alone at night in the centre and nothing happens, no one approaches me, ofc i try to be in the streets where there is a lot of people, but even if i’m in some back streets i still feel safe so i think that’s a good thing. Nothing bad has ever happened to me in Prague, except for some drunkies speaking to me every now and then.

Hi! I’ve been living in Ostrava my whole life and I would rate the overall safety a good 7,5/10. When walking outside during the day I’m not at all worried about any serious danger. You might get cat-called however it doesn’t happen often. You may encounter some weird people but all you have to do is ignore them. During the night I’m also not worried but there’s no harm in keeping your guard a little up. Overall i feel very safe in Ostrava as a woman.
