Despite it not being extraordinarily beautiful/historic/whatever, I really love Wolfsburg! Once you know the good spots, it's awesome! As for safety; as long as you stick to the usual (don't try to out-drink Germans!!), you'll be good It's a really walkable city but I used my bus ticket quite a few times, the bus system in Wolfsburg is great!
