I love Berlin, it’s my favorite city :) In daytime I felt safe going outside on my own. In nighttime I stayed in crowded places with friends. When you respects the local culture and values people tend to be much more talkative and happy to meet you :) Besides that, I recommend to go to Berlin to live, not to consume (stores etc) and visit hotspots. Berlin has a much bigger story than the trendy places offer. This is actually applicable to almost any city :)
Posted: July 24, 2025I went to Berlin with my female friends. We felt safe throughout our trip - the only uneasy encounter we had was on Alexanderplatz at 9 p.m. Some men started staring as us and were coming closer every minute as we sat on a bench and ate pizza. But they didn't follow us after we left. I recommend going on a free walking tour - you can find many of them online. I learnt a lot about Berlin, thanks to that. Our trip was on budget, but I don't see Berlin as a very expensive city - it's as expensive as a typical European capital. We stayed at a hostel, Generator Berlin Alexanderplatz, and we loved it! We chose a dorm for four guests, so we had a private room just for us. We didn't use public transport almost at all as it was more expensive than taking a Bolt or an Uber and splitting the costs. We spent almost 3 days in the city, we visited the Jewish Museum, remains of the Berlin wall, the Museum Island and went to the top of the TV Tower. I'd say Berlin is a perfect destination for a city break!
