My main concern about Fez for women is verbal harassment. For tourists however, there is a lot more safety. As usual when travelling, do not carry valuables with you and be mindful of sketchy settings.

My volunteer experience in Fès was very safe because we were supervised by the local team. We didn’t stay in one specific location, except when it was for the mission. Otherwise, we explored the entire city of Fès. As for the food, we shared traditional meals with the local team. If you come as a tourist, you can easily find these dishes in the medina. However, be mindful if you’re not a fan of sweet and savory combinations, as most traditional Moroccan dishes are like that. To be honest, Fès isn’t the most touristy city in Morocco. Aside from the new and old medina, there isn’t much to visit. Since the city doesn’t have a coast, there are paid pools that you can access for a day, typically ranging from 100 to 300 dirhams. The people are welcoming, and it’s generally a safe country for tourists. However, as a woman, you need to be cautious at certain hours, and it’s also important to respect the local dress code.

i definitely don’t recommend to solo traveling in Fez as a female. Me and my friend (also female) got harassed in every streets, both in the day and night. People try to steal your money telling you that the streets are closed and to follow them. It’s a pity because the medina is beautiful, unique and characteristic
