I taken my daughter who turned 13 to zante for her birthday and I chose a small very central hotel close to the beach and shops and a 5 minute walk to the party zone. We had an amazing time ans felt very safe as two females alone and I'm planning a solo (my first ever) back at the exact same place this year and I'm nervous to be going alone but also very excited as I hear solo travel is very liberating. This will be my third time to that area as in 2016 I taken my then 18 year old sister with me for her birthday and that's when I fell in love with zante. I'd highly recommend it to anyone but as with anywhere you'd always have to keep your witts about you but the same can be said about your own street it's just that we feel a sense of safety in our own area so we think about that less 😉

We loved Zakynthos! The beautiful clear water and lovely little beaches. The best day was when we hired a little boat, we went to ‘shipwreck beach’ which if you’re not experienced in a boat and it’s not a very clear day then I wouldn’t say it’s worth it. That side of the island isn’t as sheltered and the bay was so full of huge tour boats creating waves and you’re no longer allowed to go on the beach itself. We stayed around the north east side of the island after that it was so much calmer and we just anchored up at loads of little secluded spots and beaches and swan in the clear water and Swam to Pelagaki beach which we loved! It has a lovely little cafe at the top of some steps and you can order food on the beach and have it sent down. The food is a very good price for on the beach and portions are very big. We hired a car while there which I think is necessary if you want to explore the island and stay out of the main towns which I would advise. We used Euro Alfa and they were very friendly, waited for us with our delayed flight and no extra add on when you arrive. Overall a lovely trip!

I was there for just 2 days, but I took a full day tour round the island and it was beautiful 😍, really breathtaking and worth the trip, loved every minute, only downside was the sun, it was so freaking hot, you'd definitely need a sunglass, hat or umbrella for the Sumner trip.
