Heraklion is a really safe place to stay at. Im a news anchor at a local radio station and I'd say only a handful of crimes are being reported, especially against women. Public transportation is super safe. Walking alone at night is fine as well even though i dont recommend it in general (nowhere in the world, not just in heraklion) Haven't had any troubles tbh but im always aware of my surroundings cause you better be safe than sorry. Stay safe girls 💪
Posted: June 18, 2024I highly recommend Heraklion city for solo travellers!! It's quite safe and easy to explore the city on your own 😀. Especially in the summer nights the city centre is so vibrant and crowded that you will rarely feel isolated and unprotected.
Posted: June 1, 2024Heraklion is quite a safe place for female travelers. U can walk around at night with safety ( u just need to avoid some specific places) . Only problem is that men catcall with passing by cars , but no worry they won’t try to do anything physical

Heraklion is a super cute and safe place to be! Walked everywhere but there are also some free busses you can take to go around. Otherwise, public transport is very convenient and safe. Lots to see, extra nice restaurants and everyone is extremely friendly.
