Tampere is very safe and calm city. There may be some sexually harassing comments especially in the nightlife. The city centre may be a bit uneasy at weekend nights when there is drunken people around. Other than that, super safe. There is no need to worry about getting robbed or attacked.
Posted: August 10, 2025It is very safe. Crimes are rare and as a woman i feel completely safe in Tampere. Even at night i dont have to be scared. Obviously still i wouldn't go to some dark places at night alone, but as long as you use common sense, you will be fine
Posted: July 7, 2025I have lived in Tampere for a few years and have not experienced harassment or become a victim of crime. It is safe to walk on the streets in the evenings and at night. There are occasional crimes in Tampere, but the risk is low.
Posted: May 22, 2025Mostly safe, just a lot of drunk people in weekends. But if u dont interact , they wont do anything. Mostly feel safe walking alone as a local and no one has ever touched me. I've been catcalled only on evenings in Tampere. On daytime its very safe!
Posted: April 16, 2025I would say Tampere is very safe. I have only had few scary experiences while in Tampere. I have lived my whole life in the Tampere region and find the area quite peaceful. Even though there has been some incidents lately, I don't feel too worried about violence or crime when walking the streets of Tampere.

I absolutely loved living and working in Tampere. Kind people. Lovely sights. Beautiful forests. Loved experiencing snow the first time. If you love nature, you will love this city for sure Got to see the Moomin museum. Got to go to visit Vapriiki museum. Lots to see and experience.
