Kuopio is a relatively safe city. There's small amount of violent crime related to drugs, but if you stay out of drug user circles and don't hang around shady people you should be good. There's a moderate chance that especially conventionally pretty women get catcalled after dark, followed by men or sexually harassed. Sexual harassment at bars is common. However, chances of getting raped by strangers are very low. There's moderate risk of date rape and sexual assault. Be careful who you go home with or invite into your hotel room.

Kuopio is really safe city, because it’s in Finland and it’s not as big place. I feel safe walking back home, even during the night. Of course it’s still good to be awere that something can happen.

Kuopio is a relatively small town and most neighbourhoods are well habituated. I live in an area with lots of apartments and houses near which helps with feeling safe. Public transport is very safe even at night and personally haven’t experienced any harassment in public.
