Relatively small city even though it's one of the biggest in Finland. Easy to navigate and is walkable and bike friendly city. Transport is safe and pretty good. Well lit main roads and paths. Good emergency services available

I’ve lived in Mikkeli most of my life, and don’t ever remember feeling unsafe. Finnish cities are rather safe and calm, and Mikkeli is the same. You can walk around without worrying about something happening. Nightlife isn’t too bad either, but do still keep cautious of people around you and your drink! Bad things happen even in the safest places, so always look after yourself and your friends no matter where you are 💕 The only major concern I’d have is my bike getting stolen as that has happened to my friends and family multiple times! So keep your bikes locked :)

Bene living in Vaasa for 3 years, and I have never felt a bit unsafe! I can walk alone at dark, take the public transport and dress as I want without feeling unsafe. However, of course no place is perfect so I would still recommend being cautious. Better safe than sorry!

Espoo is pretty safe, finland in general is one of the most safest countries to live as a woman. I would say Vantaa and Helsinki are more less safe but still very safe, personally havent had any problems

Helsinki is safe for women, especially if you stay in central areas. There are some creeps at night, but rarely anything to worry about. Crime rate is pretty low and Finland is overall safe for travelers!
Posted: March 17, 2025Relatively safe, most popular areas are typically safe, as well as well connected. You might sometimes encounter people who may seem sketchy at first glance late at night but they're rarely actually an issue
Posted: March 16, 2025Rovaniemi is a very safe place overall. Of course, if you go to bars, it's a good idea to watch your drink and your back, but I have never had any bad experiences. At bars there will always be old men who think they can get too close, but they usually believe when you tell them to back off. The bouncers are also very kind and will help you if you need help.

Generally really safe. Have not experienced or witnessed any crimes or unsafe situations other than the occasional encounters with people under the influence which are easy to avoid. Very uncommon in the majority of Helsinki

Very safe place to walk all by yourself, even at nighttimes. Its quite quiet and not very crowded, not very much people around. Ofcourse you have to always keep an eye on your stuff and belognins but i have never encountered picpockets

Helsinki is safe. The most popular and crowded areas are always safe to be in, and when walking alone just rather choose well lit streets rather than alleys. Public transport is safe to use without worries and there are many guards around on stations which you can ask help from along with passengers/locals. My worst experiences have been woth drunk older men—them coming up close, slurring words and sometimes touching but luckily never worse—that I’ve brushed off and walked away. I haven't witnessed any pickpocketing ever so that's not a big thing to worry about. Helsinki is safe and there’s always someone to help if you ask.

We spent 2 weeks there We land in Helsinki. We took a night train to Rovianemi right away because it was already late in the season and we wanted to enjoy the last snow in the North as much as possible. (There are really confy and cabin are made for two) The city is dead at this time of the year (like most of the other cities in the North) Over there, it's simpler to land a car because it doesn't cost that much and there is not a lot of public transport. The landscapes are the same most if the time, and you have to make big distances. We visited the Sami center and did sled dog in Inari, cross country skiing and snow bike at Formiguères, and 2-3 hikes in different national parks. They are well indicated, but be careful, you can't do them all according to the season. Don't hesitate to ask at the information center ! We were supposed to stay 2 days at Oulu but there was not much to see in the city so we changed our mind and spend more time in Turku (many museums, a castle and cathedrals, restaurants, it's a real living city even when there are no tourists) Many airbnb have saunas, I really appreciate it ! Helsinki is full of gift shop. We didn't have the time to see the lakes in the East of the country.
Posted: March 3, 2025Experienced: March, 2024Finland was a serene and beautiful nature experience. I was in the northern part. Perhaps a little cold in August, but what else could you expect from one of the most Northern countries on earth? Felt very safe throughout the day and night, camping was good as well.

I’m a 23-year-old student from Finland! I’d describe myself as a good mix of fun and calm, not taking myself too seriously✨ I’m adventurous and love exploring new places and meeting new lovely people 💕
