Helsinki is safe, especially for solo female traveller. Do practice common sense though! Pick-pocket does happens, especially at the central railway station. Generally Fins dont approach strangers on the street even if they think you are their “love at 1st sight”. So personally I’ll be extra cautious if someone approaches me, especially if its a man. Its most likely he is drunk or high or going to ask for small changes.

You don’t have to be scared of anything in Sastamala. People there don’t care about you in a good way, and they let you mind your own business. I am walking there very often in the evenings when it is already dark, and I have never been scared of anything.

Tampere is one of the bigger cities in Finland with 255 000 people, but it still feels safe and sort of cosy. The crime rate is low but there has been a slight rise in the last couple months. I have never experienced any harrassment, sexual or other wise.
Posted: October 1, 2024I have been living here for more than a month, and I go out all the time, yet still nothing happened, and no one approached me. I feel so safe here to leave my stuff and then come back to them again. It's a great city in a great country.

Turku is one of the biggest cities in Finland, but still very safe. The city is cozy and I feel safe here. In Finland you can move outside at any time, of course it's always good to be sure that someone knows where you are and check on your friends, but here I think you can be very peaceful in here.

One of the safest cities in the world! I have lived here for a while and even tho it is a bigger city than my home town, I feel 100% safe most of the time. Crime rates are pretty low comparing to other countries
Posted: August 1, 2024Helsinki is overall very safe. There are some areas especially at night that are a bit more hectic and you have to be aware of the people around you, because they can either be under the influence of some substance or there is just a lot of going on. For example outside Sörnäinen metro station and the very center of Helsinki. There has been more reposts of pickpocketing over the past couple of years, especially in the center. It’s very common to use the alepa bikes, buses, trams, trains, and metros. They are also overall safe to use at any time of the day. There are some queer clubs, and easy going bars and clubs around the city. Even though Kallio/Sörnäinen, can be a bit hectic at times, it is still a very enjoyable place to go for its urban bars, restaurants, and happenings.
Posted: July 17, 2024When people are drunk all kind of idiotic things can happen. In general people are kind and it’s safe place to wonder around as a woman. I have worked late nights and gone home by foot or bike and I have been completely fine without worry of something bad could happen to me on my way from city to home.
Posted: July 16, 2024Finland is very easygoing and safe place for travellers. Summers are really nice and winters something to experience. We are polite and a bit timid nation at first sight but when you get to know people they are really kind and caring

Jalasjarvi is a quite small town. The people are very friendly. I was a voluneter for Aukusti festival that took place there. We stayed at the community center. A store was in 100 m from our place. A very strange habit that people have there- after the festival was over, teenagers brought beer and a speaker and just stayed in front of random houses and had like an afterparty there. Everybody knows everybody so even tho they have some strange habits they are still very friendly and safe to be around. nearby there was a big zoo with animals all over the world, lakes and a religious summer camp, sports field, a cinema. compared to other countries it wasn t that expensive, you can recycle cans and get some money back from it. For a restaurant you have to leave the town cause i don t remeber them having one.
