as a woman and a poc, nowhere is truly safe.. but i’ve always described about helsinki or finland as somewhere you dont normally travel to, but you would wanna live in. people are generally helpful and majority speak good english even though we dont typically start a conversation with you.
Posted: May 29, 2025Overall I would say very safe. Most of the time I feel very safe walking in Helsinki. I feel comfortable traveling home alone at night and meeting people. One of the safest citys in Europe. No need to be afraid!
Posted: May 25, 2025I have lived in Tampere for a few years and have not experienced harassment or become a victim of crime. It is safe to walk on the streets in the evenings and at night. There are occasional crimes in Tampere, but the risk is low.

It’s a safe city, allthough right in the city centre there are some drug addicts and alcoholics hanging out, but so far I haven’t had any kind of contact from them. Also some bars have a reputation about drink spiking so definitely should look out for that.
Posted: May 20, 2025Espoo is pretty safe city. Public transportation works and is safe. There are some drunken people at night around bars and pubs, like in any other city. I feel safe to walk in forests, parks, streets etc

Great countey but quite expensive. The food was good, especially a Finnish restaurant in Helsinki called Zetor which had great food. Helsinki is a quiet city with not much to do, but Oulo was great. The people are friendly and it is a very safe country

I study art history and education in University, and I enjoy languages and culture a lot. I need to practice my french, but I’m fluent in english swedish and finnish. Always up for seeing new museums, live music, libraries and culture exchange :) Also a huge foodie, finding the best vegetarian cuisine is always on my travel bucketlist. I live in Jyväskylä, but I’m quite often in Helsinki if someone’s traveling in Finland and wants advice or to meet up
