Helsinki is a really safe city for women, on weekend nights there might be some drunk people, shouting etc, but I worked as a bartender in the city for a year and always felt okey going home alone from work at night. Of course there are some less safe areas such as Sörnäinen and Vaasankatu (bars) that I would avoid at night.

Helsinki is overall a pretty safe city. I leave my belongings in the public spaces without being worried (e.g. cafes, library). I walk home after dark quite often and even though I follow safety guidelines, I fell pretty safe doing that. Overall, one of the safest cities for solo travelling you can imagine.
Posted: May 11, 2025I've lived in Helsinki now for fine years and I never experienced anything. I use regularly the pubblic transportation, especially the metro, which I take every day and I never have any problem. There might be some drunk people, but they don't usually harm anyone.
Posted: April 24, 2025Helsinki is a very safe city. Even if you forget your stuff somewhere or leave it at a table you will most likely find it untouched. I think normal precaution when walking alone at night or taking pubpic transport alone at night is sufficient.

Helsinki is a very safe place in Finland. You can walk in the night but always be alert of your surrounding. In Helsinki there are not many pickpockers but in crouded areas be alert. People in Finland can be difficult to abroach but they are friendly.
Posted: April 8, 2025Its really safe and guys are too shy to even talk to you. Of course thought men are still men and you can never know! Finnish men come out of their shell after they had a few drinks so it might be a little less safe after hours. Other than that yall good

Helsinki is safe for women, especially if you stay in central areas. There are some creeps at night, but rarely anything to worry about. Crime rate is pretty low and Finland is overall safe for travelers!

Generally really safe. Have not experienced or witnessed any crimes or unsafe situations other than the occasional encounters with people under the influence which are easy to avoid. Very uncommon in the majority of Helsinki

Helsinki is safe. The most popular and crowded areas are always safe to be in, and when walking alone just rather choose well lit streets rather than alleys. Public transport is safe to use without worries and there are many guards around on stations which you can ask help from along with passengers/locals. My worst experiences have been woth drunk older men—them coming up close, slurring words and sometimes touching but luckily never worse—that I’ve brushed off and walked away. I haven't witnessed any pickpocketing ever so that's not a big thing to worry about. Helsinki is safe and there’s always someone to help if you ask.
Posted: March 9, 2025I have been living in Helsinki for 7 years now and I have never been involved in a crime! Everyone is very kind 😊 Itss very international as there are people from various countries living there and many people speak English.

I tend to visit late as I live in the nearby city and the nightlife is better, and I generally feel safe and aren't concerned about being by myself even if it's in the middle of the night and it's less crowded.
Posted: April 24, 2025Experienced: February, 2025we went to helsinki with my friends on a ferry for one day. that was actually really fun! we went to see some free museums, national library, walked in city centre, went on small shopping in “normal” and “stockmann” and had dinner. we felt really safe there, walking alone with girls only. i really want to recommend y’all Leaf buffet. it is located in forum mall on 0 floor. so u basically pay 14€ per one person and u can have any amount of food u want. there was like 20 types of sushi, soup, some meat, drinks, salads, fruits and cake. recommend visiting helsinki!
