Helsinki is one of the safest cities to visit and live. I’ve been living here for 4 years now and have been visiting the city for longer. I’ve walked alone at dark MANY times and it’s quiet and calm here. People usually mind their own bisness and leave you alone. Of course you always have to be alert as a woman and I’d avoid central railway station at night time.
Posted: December 30, 2024Over all I feel Helsinki to be really safe. You can move around in the city and the suburbs without problems. Most of the clubs follow the safer space rules and usually the staff is well trained on the subject. I’ve heard that pick pocketing is on the rise in down town. If you use your common sense you should be good. Locals are usually kind and eager to help you.
Posted: December 26, 2024Helsinki is pretty safe sometimes there can happen something bad like in everywhere can but you can walk alone without being scared even at night and if you need help people will help you with anything
Posted: December 19, 2024The safest city in the world, no problems for woman travelers. Public transport is completely safe and works well. However, areas not recommended to go are parts of East Helsinki like Itäkeskus and Kontula.
Posted: November 25, 2024Helsinki in general is a very safe city. I want to start off that I personally live in one of the more “restless” areas that is known to have a lot of drug users and if something violent happens it’s most likely here. With that being said I’m still not scared to walk around alone during the night or don’t have to worry about someone assaulting me. Those types of incidents most often occur between the drug users themselves. Never had a case of pickpocketing happen and the locals are very respectful of personal space. The overall proficiency of English is very good and people are very willing to help. From the safety point of view I’d definitely recommend Helsinki!
Posted: October 22, 2024I feel myself safely all the time. I walk with the dog at 10pm-1am and nothing was ever happened. Have been living in the city around 10y Also sexual harassment is nonsense here. Public transport is safe and secure, because bus driver has alarm button to call police whenever you are. So it is safe and I didn’t hear any stories about harassment or any other crimes in the city last time.
Posted: October 19, 2024Helsinki is safe, especially for solo female traveller. Do practice common sense though! Pick-pocket does happens, especially at the central railway station. Generally Fins dont approach strangers on the street even if they think you are their “love at 1st sight”. So personally I’ll be extra cautious if someone approaches me, especially if its a man. Its most likely he is drunk or high or going to ask for small changes.

One of the safest cities in the world! I have lived here for a while and even tho it is a bigger city than my home town, I feel 100% safe most of the time. Crime rates are pretty low comparing to other countries
Posted: August 1, 2024Helsinki is overall very safe. There are some areas especially at night that are a bit more hectic and you have to be aware of the people around you, because they can either be under the influence of some substance or there is just a lot of going on. For example outside Sörnäinen metro station and the very center of Helsinki. There has been more reposts of pickpocketing over the past couple of years, especially in the center. It’s very common to use the alepa bikes, buses, trams, trains, and metros. They are also overall safe to use at any time of the day. There are some queer clubs, and easy going bars and clubs around the city. Even though Kallio/Sörnäinen, can be a bit hectic at times, it is still a very enjoyable place to go for its urban bars, restaurants, and happenings.
Posted: July 17, 2024Helsinki is generally very safe. At night time Kamppi and railway station area can be bit shady, so be aware. There have been some pickpockets at the city center, so zip your bag and don't leave valuables on the table at the terraces. As a woman it's very safe to go around.

Hello 😊 I'm someone who's always been curious about the world and how people tick. Traveling is my happy place-it's not just about visiting new places but about diving into different cultures, meeting amazing people, and collecting unforgettable experiences along the way. I've always been fascinated by psychology, and that interest has led me to pursue a career in occupational therapy. Helping people find ways to live their best lives feels like the perfect fit for me, and I'm so excited about where this path is taking me. When I'm not studying or planning my next adventure, you'll probably find me with my nose in a book. I love reading-it's my way of learning, escaping, and staying inspired. Oh, and I'm also a business owner! Running my own thing has been a wild ride full of lessons and growth, and it's definitely shaped how I approach life. I'm all about exploring, connecting, and figuring out how to make life meaningful-for myself and for others. If any of this resonates with you, let's chat. I'd love to hear your story too🤍🤩
