I think Curitiba is a little dangerous, but if you’re careful with your stuff then you should be fine. Like don’t use your phone when you’re walking on the street, take care of your surroundings, avoid going out alone at night, but don’t stress too much about it too.
Posted: December 30, 2024The city center and tourist areas are very safe and there are police everywhere, at night, and on public transport it is important to be aware of possible thefts. Residential neighborhoods and more remote areas do not have as many police and are therefore more unstable. This does not mean that it is dangerous, but it is not a good idea to let your guard down.
Posted: December 28, 2024Your biggest concern would be pickpockets in the city center, especially at night, but overall, the city's crime rate is one of the lowest in the country. People tend to be more antisocial, and the climate is colder, but as a woman it is a great city to relax and have tourism linked to nature and cuisine.

Curitiba is a very safe place to live, regardless of the neighborhood, but as a woman I’m always on alert, also I’m always hanging out in the evening and coming home late, I walk around everywhere and nothing happened in the last few years, it’s a much safer place than São Paulo for instance, and I’m from Rio, I know about comparison
Posted: December 12, 2024Curitiba is a friendly city in certain areas, but it's good to always be attentive. I don't recommend being alone on the street at night. Some regions are more dangerous, so stay alert. Compared to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, it is much safer here.
