Except the “Rodoviária do plano piloto” and the highway call “W3”, Brasília is very safe. The places I mentioned have a lot of people and tend to have beggars too. In "W3" there are usually prostitutes at night too. I recommend not going to the satellite cities, as the center, the so-called "Plano Pilot" is much safer.
Posted: February 12, 2025Brasília is safer in comparison to other Brazilian capitals, but it is still a dangerous city for women to walk alone at night, especially because the night life is not as active as other binge cities
Posted: December 29, 2024In my neighbourhood is very safe but there are areas that you must be careful. I use public transport and ealk after dark around my neighbourhood. Brasilia is a planned city. With a lot of cultural events

I won’t advise to walk alone in the park after 9pm, but as long as it’s busy with more people you will be fine. Never had a friend that had a phone stolen, haven’t seen cases with guns, knives or anything like this. Please note I am talking about Brasilia, not the whole Federal District. So, Asa Sul, Asa Norte, Sudoeste, Lago Sul and Lago norte.

It depends a lot on the place and time. Places that are less crowded and later at night tend to be more dangerous. You have to stay alert; it's risky to walk around blatantly using your phone (even though many people do it). Gender-related crimes are more of the femicide type, related to partners. However, kidnappings and rapes also occur.
Posted: September 13, 2024It depends where you live in Brasilia. The Plano piloto is very safe and calm. I walk around most places even when it’s dark. Sometimes it’s empty so that has potential for danger. Overall it’s been a great place and much safer than some other big cities in Brasilia.
Posted: August 18, 2024It's safer than other capitals of Brasil but in some areas have the danger of robbery and bad intentioned men at night, the public transport does not have robbery inside but maybe in bus stops are very dangerous depending on wich neighbourhood you are but mostly in tourists areas are safer than outskirts
Posted: June 25, 2024Brasilia is very safe in general if you are on the center of the city. Looks like a park and a condo at the same time. The night ends early but you have a lot of options to do during the day, and it’s close to many waterfalls.
Posted: June 24, 2024Brasilia is a big city with a countryside vibe. Overall I feel safer here in comparison to other cities in Brazil. I’m not saying it cannot happen, but I think it happens less. It also depends the area of Brasilia.
