Rio is a beautiful city, not better stay where all the tourists are. If you go to a local place it's not safe. So, better listen what they say at the hotel. Stay safe! Don't go to favela safaris. Instead go to see the touristic attractions.
Posted: September 4, 2024Rio is a somewhat dangerous city, but with some care, everyone can have an excellent experience in the Marvelous City. In tourist spots, there may be people watching tourists (especially foreigners) to gain some advantage. I suggest using either Uber, public transportation, and/or a trusted driver.
Posted: August 15, 2024Not safe specially at night, but you can walk during the day as long as you don’t show off or wear expensive stuff. You just have to be careful and pay attention. It’s a very beautiful city after all.

Rio is very known for its high criminality and also for being a very unsafe city. I’m not going to say it’s not dangerous to be here but it’s also not as bad as the media shows. Rio is an experience. Of course you need to be careful, to be aware of your surroundings but also you can enjoy the city
Posted: June 23, 2024Very dangerous!!! People can rob you any time. In the night it’s very scareful to walk alone. I don’t recommend. Don’t go to communities too. A lot of assaults happening every day. You have to always take Uber to go to places.
Posted: June 6, 2024The touristic areas are not that bad. But u should not have your mobille in your hands while walking on the streets. The normal pickpocket is everywhere. Schemes are also common on taxis, some bars / restaurants bills. We should always be alert walking on the streets
Posted: May 15, 2024Rio is a safe city as long as you are careful. You shouldn't go to risky places and must always be careful with your smartphone. When it gets dark, it's more dangerous and their are more chances to get assaulted and robbed it's always better to take an Uber and not to be alone.
Posted: May 6, 2024Rio de Janeiro is a big city with different realities. Safety usually depends on the area. The region known as “zona sul” is usually safer than others. It always important to stay alert and take care of your things, and also to be careful walking at night.

Rio is my home town and even though I know my way around and I’m not a concerned person, I do feel quite unsafe here. I know where to go and where to walk but still feels very sketchy, especially late at night. I don’t feel in danger all the time but it sure is uncomfortable walking alone as a woman in the city of Rio de Janeiro

Rio is a beautiful city but its very dangerous. You can't use your cell phone in street bc you'll be stolen. The same about using professional cameras of photos and cash (dolars or euros). Keep your eyes open and don't accept food or drinks offered by strangers, mainly if a hot guy offers a special drink.

I loved Rio, I stayed in Copacabana and adored the restaurants on the beachfront. I went paragliding and it was an incredible experience. The city is lively and for those who like entertainment it is the ideal place, there are parties every day.
Posted: April 21, 2024Rio is beautiful, like no other city I have been to because of it being built into the mountains but you need to be careful and aware of your surroundings. Not many people outside tourist areas speak English.

I'm a girl from Rio who has visited and lived in many Brazilian cities. So i have been a guide for several times, in different cities (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Aracaju and Porto Alegre). The best part is the opportunity to change experiences and make new friends! I really love it! Easy-going person, who loves to introduce my country and our culture to people.
