About Me

Hey, I’m Kevser an international student currently living in Italy. I recently obtained my bachelor’s and doing a course on IOS development. I’m a little quirky, sarcastic and full of surprises-even for myself-I’d love to show you around in Naples or see it with you as I’m not a local as well. Let’s grab a couple of beers and have a lightweight chat shall we? I’ll travel around Italy looking for friends along the way, piacere.

Group travel experience

Although Naples may be regarded as grittier, I felt generally safe during my stay. My friends and I, 6 of us all women, were able to walk around the streets at night with the usual precautions one would take anywhere.

Solo travel experience

I went to Napoli towards the end of 2021 for about 10 days. I stayed in an airbnb (not shared) in the Spanish Quarter, an airbnb (not shared) in Chiaia, and a hotel in Chiaia. The airbnbs were huge and super nice, but cheap (around $90/night). Chiaia is a nice neighborhood to stay in. It’s a more affluent place with nice views and restaurants. The Spanish Quarter was ok. It’s cheaper, but kind of sketchy at night. I never felt unsafe in Naples, but I have a higher tolerance for unsafe places. Maybe someone that is more fearful wouldn’t have done as much nighttime walking as I did. Naples is the home of Neapolitan pizza. I had a pizza at least once a day. LOL. It’s cheap and good. I wouldn’t say that the people are friendly. They mind their own business. Not interested in foreign people the way locals are in other countries. Very few people speak English, educated or not. Naples is a place that I’d recommend dating apps to get some social interaction. I didn’t find nightlife to be very interactive: people only interacted with the people they came with. I speak very basic Italian. Also, for POC, I’m a dark skinned, black woman. There was some staring, but nothing that made me uncomfortable.

Solo travel experience

I loved Naples. I spent an incredible time there as a young woman traveling alone in July. I stayed in the Old Town and never once felt unsafe there. Everyone I came into contact with was very kind and hospitable. It was one of my favorite places I visited in Italy. I highly recommend visiting the National Archaeological Museum and the Sansevero Chapel to see the Veiled Christ. I also took a guided tour from Naples to Pompeii and loved every second of this experience. I also recommend wearing a purse with a strap over your shoulder to avoid potential pickpockets.
