I traveled with my good friend (female as well). We had bought interrail ticket and went with the flow, which got us to Sicily. It was last year in February. It was off season, so finding acomodation was quite easy and very affordable. We tried local weird food, Stigghiola for example (google it lol). But as we did not eat in any fancy restaurants or stuff like that, I can't say that it felt safe, eating some of the street crazy stuff. I must recommend visiting Ragusa. Beautiful place, especially at night. Taormina as well (and dont be lazy, take the stairs, it is worth it). Palermo was okay, we did not have much time, so I cant really say. Catania was nice, but we got a super cheap hostel right next to the ghetto and it was quite dangerous. We had to be cautious. But at the same time it was exciting. All the little streets, small vendors, grandma with delicious cake. Great experience. So over all.. I recommend going to Sicily.. please pick your hostels carefully, dont pet the dogs obviously and if you feel bad about some street or a road, dont go. Trust your intuition. ♥️
Posted: August 6, 2024Sicily is very beautiful! Excellent food, sea’s to swim into. I like the authentic vibe and the beautiful mountains. And the air itself also. It breaths nice haha. I recommend eating arancini. Also it feels very safe to be there, even the whole night

Hi, I’m Sophie. I’ve always loved travelling and recently discovered the joy of solo travelling. A few years ago, I lived in Auckland, New Zealand for a year and then travelled around the world for 14 months. Since April 2024, I’m travelling around Europe in my camper van while working remotely until at least the end of 2025. My plan is to visit Ireland, Norway, Italy, Scotland, Wales, Iceland, Spain and Portugal.
