Went alone once then brought my mom another time. It was great. Booked a tour to Red Rock, and another to Grand Canyon, a Cirque du Soleil show, used the hop on hop off bus as transportation with a couple of day pass. Went to Freemont for a dinner show at the Plaza. I found it safe and comfortable but keep your eyes open.
I’ve been to Vegas solo at least 2 dozen times. I live in Los Angeles, so it’s an easy, cheap getaway for me. I love going solo. I’ve never felt unsafe, but I would recommend not drinking or partaking in drugs because there are for sure people looking to take advantage of women in an altered state. I love going to Vegas solo because I can do everything on my schedule. I can see the shows I want, gamble when I want, and eat where I want. Sure, it’s fun to go with people, but coordinating a group can be s nightmare. Sometimes it’s fun to just go do whatever you want. Ride the roller coasters, get a spa treatment, zip line on Fremont Street, hang out by the pool, play the slots, see a show, check out the Mandalay Bay shark reef, and do whatever the heck you want!
I went with a friend who was attending a trade show all day for 3 days, so I was on my own for the most part, including for meals. I had a wonderful time exploring the hotels and tracking down a few of the restaurants I wanted to try. I walked a lot, got the day local train pass one day to extend my range, and didn't get to everything I'd wanted. The neon museum is one thing I am gonna see next time. We stayed at the flamingo, it was inexpensive, very nice, and centrally located, and yes, I felt totally safe.
So much to do in Vegas. Before covid I went once or twice a year. Great shows, food, shopping. One thing I love to do is hang out in the lounges that most of the hotels have. They have free live entertainment in the lounges or a dj. You can order food and drinks and have a great time. Check out the House of Blues in Mandalay Bay. They have lots of great entertainment and a great lounge. Harrahs has a really cool lounge/piano bar that I love. Mandalay Bay has a man made beach and most casinos have good pools. Oh and if you like to pamper yourself definitely spend time in one of the many spas getting a massage. And go downtown to see the night sky show.
I rented a car and went to Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire. I easily drove through both in a day, including short hikes. I thought they would be similar but they were very different from each other. I didn’t care for Vegas, not my thing, but I found the Mojave Desert beautiful.
Stayed in Flamingo which was in a fabulous location, very central on the strip. Had a nice pool area and rooms were lovely. Loads to do and all very accessible on the local bus called the “deuce” which is a daily/weekly ticket hop on/off but I did walk miles and miles!! Felt safe with usual common sense measures! If you want to go to specific high profile shows book early, the sell out months in advance.
I went solo last May and had the best time and would do it again. I stayed at MGM Park — while it was on the main strip, it wasn't in the direct center so it wasn't as hectic as some of the centered hotels seemed. (Still totally walkable to anywhere on the strip though!) I was there 3 days and just roamed around looking at all of the hotels and casinos, ate good food, chilled at my hotel's pools, and did a fun photoshoot with a local photographer.
