Hawaii is generally safe and hospitable for solo female travelers. Regardless it's not recommended to walk alone at night, especially in less trafficked areas. However, popular areas such as Waikiki and other tourist-centric parts of Hawaii are well-lit and frequented by officials and locals alike till late hours which adds an extra layer of security. Crime rates are relatively lower here compared to many states in the U.S., but caution should always be exercised.

Public transportation:Safe

Hawaii's public transportation, mainly TheBus and TheHandi-Van, is generally safe with extensive routes covering most of the island, especially Oahu. Daytime travel is quite reliable, but late-night services can be limited in certain areas. Drivers and staff are usually courteous and helpful. However, it's always recommended to exercise basic safety precautions like not displaying valuables, being aware of your surroundings, and avoiding isolated bus stops after dark.

Always felt safe on all islands. Eaxh island had such a different vibe! Especially loved how accessible Oahu was with public transport. Still recommend renting a car to find the most beautiful spots! Maui was probably my favourite island, sunset over the clouds in the National Park, the Nature on the road to Hana and the hikes were amazing!

Solo travel

I went backpacking to Hawaii for one week. At first I went to the big island. The people there is really nice but you also have to be careful because there are a lot of crackheads. I stayed in a room for 50$ the first night and then I took a long bus to the volcano and did camping there for one night. It was really cool, chill and safe. After, I took a plane to Honolulu. Very touristic, I didn’t like it there that much but the water is amazing. I moved a little far away from the city to a house of one of my friends and stayed there for 5 days. I explored the zone, went hiking and surfing. Pretty nice people and really good food. A little bit expensive tho. Hawaii is a must place! At least for once in your life. I would love to come back and have time to explore more.

Traveling to Hawai’i felt very safe. The locals would help you with directions and food recommendations! I would recommend going to the tide pools or Makapu’u beach. :) I stayed in a shared room in Kailua.

I felt safe and grateful for the kind people I met while traveling. There are lots of things to do and see, depending on how long you are there. Must-visit attractions include the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, Polynesian Cultural Center, Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head, and more.

It s an over rated place as per snorkel I didn’t find anything interesting It s super expensive and it s basically a mass of cement that has put the entire Waikiki inside lots of different big hotels like in a cage Food and items are cheap bad quality stuffs but with the triple of the price!

I went with family but felt overall safe. Everywhere was crowded. Everyone so nice. Had mexican restaurants and spanish speakers. The climate was so nice at night and day time. Beautiful views and had downtown places so pretty
