Is Las Vegas Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Las Vegas safety can depend largely on where you are. Popular and well-lit areas such as the Las Vegas Strip are generally safe due to the high level of security present. However, some parts of the city can be less safe especially late at night. Always be alert, aware of your surroundings, and consider taking a taxi or rideshare service rather than walking alone late at night.

How safe is Las Vegas?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Moderate

Las Vegas is typically busy and populated, especially in tourist areas like the Strip, where there are many people, lights, and security. However, it's not recommended to wander off into the less crowded or non-touristy areas at night due to some levels of crime and occasional aggressive behavior. Always be aware of your surroundings, stick to well-lit and crowded areas, and adhere to safety precautions typical of any major city to help ensure a safe experience.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Las Vegas is generally reliable and safe. The city offers various options including buses, trams, and monorails that operate 24/7. The monorail system is especially secure as it is entirely elevated, preventing any pedestrian traffic. Nighttime travel is also considered safe, but always be mindful of your surroundings, especially in less crowded areas.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Moderate

In Las Vegas, street harassment isn't typically pervasive like in some other cities worldwide. However, on the busy strip and in bustling casino areas, the chances increase. It's a city with a vibrant nightlife, and there can be occasional occurrences of catcalls, lewd comments, or inappropriate behavior, particularly at night. Despite these instances, the city is generally well-policed and security within hotels and casinos tends to be good.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Moderate

Las Vegas, although popularly known for its nightlife and entertainment, does experience its share of petty crimes such as pickpocketing, bag snatching, and theft from parked cars. Especially in tourist-heavy areas or crowded places, it's advisable to be alert and mindful of your belongings at all times. However, the presence of increased police patrols and security measures in most of the city's venues aids in the mitigation of these crimes.

It was a really great experience. I was with a travel group from a language academy what made it a lot easier. We stayed at a motel which was a bit outside of the city, because we were all under 21 and not allowed to go through the casinos, so we had to took a hotel where the rooms are outside of the casino. We went to the Grand Canyons, which was a really impressing experienc, it’s such a great view and it was really stunning, after this we went to Arizona Casey, who is a musician that lives on a ranch in the middle of nowhere. The atmosphere on the ranch was so great! Then we went to a Katy Perry concert, her show was absolutely stunning and really impressive. After that we went to all the hotels in the city and it was great, there are whole cities build inside the hotels and it’s definitely worth We also took a ride through the red canyons. In the hotels, the Freemont street and the canyons I felt safe but it was a bit scary at night because we had a few scary people in our motel. So at night it wasn’t so nice. We got a car to go to all the places, and the group leaders were driving. The costs were a bit high. We payed 4000 for everything, food, the flight, the activities and fuel. So it was a bit exp but definitely worth it. All in all it was a great experience and I can definitely recommend Las Vegas :))

Solo travel

I went to the Bellagio and although it was beautiful there was a strange man who approached me and I didn't really feel safe. Fremont St is expensive but had an open festival vibe. There were intoxicated ppl at McDonald's and wanted to fight me. I wouldn't go alone. I'm used to traveling alone but not any more

Almost all the restraunts where good, the hotels were great. I stayed at two. 1. Pink Flamingo, which was OK. 2. Harrahs which I seem to like it a little better. Everything is more expensive then the downtown strip. I actually got a room with living area, bedroom, and 2 bathrooms, then a bar in the living. Area. The rooms was cheaper then downtown strip, however of course they always charged 50 dollars per day for resort fee. And 40 dollars a day with vallet parking. I did not feel very safe. A man tried to grab me on the strip. Same man that tried to grab two other women the night before. In front of a lot of people. But people just ignore it and walk on. When reporting it to pink flamingo. They said sorry the strip is not our property. However when I was talking to staff the day before. It's a good area and we try our best to keep people not only inside but also outside. But when it comes down to it. I saw Carrie Underwood. I really loved her.

Been to Vegas countless times, it's generally safe. I prefer to stay center strip, near Ballys as its close to everytime. Top 3 eats Spago, Dave's Hot Chicken & Tacos El Gordo. Girls don't pay to get into night clubs, never but anything from anyone on the strip. I prefer uber here, I feel safer, and the cabs try to rip you off.

I went about a week before the F1 race for a work trip and had a blast. I went a little early to do some exploring of my own and while the strip is great, I’d your outdoorsy, I wouldn’t overlook Las Vegas! The Grand Canyon isn’t far, and if you like to hike or rock climb, Red Rocks park is just a 30 minute drive from the strip and had some of the best climbing I had in a while! Walking around at night felt perfectly safe (at practically any hour) on the strip, especially when you have the option to walk from casino to casino and get from one end of the strip to another without ever really leaving a well lit and crowded building. The food was delicious! And I’m a big speakeasy fan, there were a ton right on the strip that were a lot of fun to try and find!

I've always said the most dangerous place I've traveled to is home, but with that being said, if you're aware of your surroundings and are alert, it's fairly a safe place. Dont take drinks from strangers, and don't go out alone at night.

Its okay as long as youre mindful. I never walk alone at night. I always pay attention to my surroundings. I be careful. You never know. Sex trafficking is a thing so im extra causcious over that. I am a local and i havent experienced anything scary luckily but i do know friends where something unsafe happened.
