If you have only one day in NYC, book it now! There no other city like it in the world, and I would highly recommend. I stayed at the Modernist Hotel in Long Island City, and while the hotel was expensive ($400/night), it was worth it to be in a good location and near the train.

I did couch surfing and stayed there for only three days but I wish I had stayed there longer. It was a beautiful city, full of life. My favourite part is going to the New York Public Library and Brooklyn Bridge. I didn’t explore much on food as I was travelling all the time and had limited budget. Used metro card for travelling around. Such a beautiful experience. The people I met were really kind and helpful. I would suggest to check weather and carry essentials before going. And if you love biking then you will find plenty of city bikes. But you need to have a card. I was travelling with just cash😅.

Genuinely New York is one of my favourite places to travel to the only downside of it is how expensive stays are. It’s super expensive to travel Solo and it’s best to go with groups. Safety wise it is great. There’s a lot of people everywhere at any time. The city is always alive and transport has always been great
Posted: June 25, 2025Visiting New York was an unforgettable experience. I felt safe throughout my trip, even while exploring the city late in the evening. The food scene was amazing—there’s everything from affordable street food to international cuisine. I stayed in a budget-friendly hotel in Manhattan, which was convenient for getting around. Public transportation made it easy to explore different neighborhoods and iconic places like Central Park, Times Square, and the Brooklyn Bridge.

I love love loved New York. I went in 2023 before trump was elected thankfully. One of my all time favourite trips - it was a school trip so I was with a massive class under the care of my teachers. Such an amazing time, the plane ride was painful haha but yeah so so fun.
Posted: April 17, 2025I spent six days in New York City last summer. I felt safe. There were a few weird people, but they didn’t really care about others. And if they did, you just had to ignore them. Things to do: Brooklyn (DUMBO, Brooklyn Bridge), Central Park, Grand Central Terminal, Times Square, take the free ferry to see the Statue of Liberty, visit the 9/11 Memorial (I didn’t go inside), Summit One Vanderbilt (the ticket was around $50, I guess), and take the free cable car. I had a MetroCard, which was about $30–40 for a week. I stayed in New Jersey and took a bus every day. It happened to be free that week, so I was really lucky! The ride was about half an hour. I used the subway at the end of the day, tried to walk as much as possible, and occasionally took a bus during the day. The hotel was pretty nice.

There are police officers everywhere, it feels safe. I recommend staying in public places anyway. Just be careful on public transport. Avoid neighborhoods you don't know.
Posted: July 24, 2025I have lived in NYC in the upper east side for 10 years. It’s super chill and I feel comfortable walking alone at night. Most of the touristy areas in manhattan are really safe! Outside my neighborhood I prefer to travel with friends. When taking the subway keep your back to the wall and make sure you are getting in a car with several other passengers. An empty car is normally a red flag especially if other cars are packed. If you are solo traveling, I would say to take a cab or uber home after 11pm. Download the citizen app to see what’s going around in the area. This city is absolutely incredible. Take advantage of everything. Just stay vigilant and really do your research about neighborhoods or boroughs you want to visit. Street smarts!
