Stayed in the city centre area, so everything is just convenient! Felt safe 100%! Was walking back to my hotel at about 2am and the streets were silent but the city lights were still on, I guess that the choice of hostel/hotel in the city centre helped with that :) You can go anywhere by just walking, they have a lot of stores, so I was mainly shopping for myself + souvenirs :)

Leeds has taken concrete steps in recent years to improve women’s safety for example with WalkSafe Leeds. The app lets you share your route and estimated arrival time with trusted contacts, send a quick SOS, and locate safe spaces or venues that participate in the Ask for Angela support network. That can help you feel more secure walking around, especially at night.
Posted: November 29, 2025It’s much safer than London which is more famous. Every city has areas that you should avoid after dark but it’s fantastic otherwise. Just be careful in the city centre on a Friday night and follow the usual safety tips for going out to drink
Posted: October 5, 2025It is quite safe. Never had trouble travelling late at night or anything such. It has been over 3 years and never encountered danger. Live in city centre. Even late at nights there is no worrying about anything.
Posted: September 22, 2025Based on reports from women living in Leeds, we created a safety map highlighting areas where they feel unsafe during the day or at night.
