Stayed in the city centre area, so everything is just convenient! Felt safe 100%! Was walking back to my hotel at about 2am and the streets were silent but the city lights were still on, I guess that the choice of hostel/hotel in the city centre helped with that :) You can go anywhere by just walking, they have a lot of stores, so I was mainly shopping for myself + souvenirs :)
Posted: January 17, 2024North Leeds especially is very suburban and safe, full of families and 25-30yo professionals. Headingley and Burley are more studenty so arguably less safe from a break-in potential, but generally absolutely fine. Harehills is known as the roughest area of Leeds and is definitely the least safe.
Posted: June 3, 2024Leeds city centre is fairly safe, there are some unruly bars where you need to keep an eye on your drink but it is safe to walk around the city at night. There is an organisation that can help overnight on Fridays and Saturdays if you feel unsafe called Leeds Street Angels.
