Safety at night:Moderate

Leeds can generally be safe at night especially in well-lit and busier areas. However, it is advisable to stay vigilant and aware of your surroundings. Some areas may be less safe than others, especially quiet and less populated areas. Public transportation and licensed taxis are readily available for safer means of night time travel. Like anywhere in the world, it's best to avoid walking alone late at night. Instead, go with a group if you can, stay in well-traveled areas, and always let someone know where you're going.

Public transportation:Safe

Leeds provides a well-managed public transportation system. This consists of buses, trains, and taxis, which are generally safe and reliable. Most of the operators prioritize passenger security and have implemented surveillance systems and regular patrols to ensure safety. Night buses are available, but like any city, it's wise to stay aware of your surroundings, especially during quieter hours. However, incidents are not common and many solo female travelers have had positive experiences traveling around Leeds using public transportation.

Street harassment:Low

Leeds is generally a safe city for solo female travelers. Street harassment is not a common occurrence, and while it can occasionally happen as it could anywhere, most locals are respectful and courteous. It is always recommended, however, to stay alert and take typical travel precautions, especially during late hours and in less crowded areas.

Petty crimes:Low

Petty crimes in Leeds do exist as they do in any city, but it's relatively uncommon. Leeds is generally safe but you should still exercise common precautions such as not leaving your belongings unattended, and being vigilant especially when in crowded areas or at night.

Tap water:Very safe

The tap water in Leeds, is exceptionally safe to drink. It undergoes rigorous testing and treatment to ensure it meets high safety standards set out by stringent health regulations. So, you can have full confidence in filling your water bottle straight from the tap during your travels, which is also a great step for environmental sustainability.

Solo travel experience

Stayed in the city centre area, so everything is just convenient! Felt safe 100%! Was walking back to my hotel at about 2am and the streets were silent but the city lights were still on, I guess that the choice of hostel/hotel in the city centre helped with that :) You can go anywhere by just walking, they have a lot of stores, so I was mainly shopping for myself + souvenirs :)
